Do you find that time goes faster as you get older?

I know that there are many young people here, but there are also some that are old enough to have noticed this. You who are young may have heard others mention it, so all may comment. I am seventy years old and time seems to fly, why do you think that is? Who else feels the same way?

I feel this so much, the weeks just fly by. It does seem to be a perception of age the only thime this happened when I was young was when I was really enjoying some activity. Does this mean I am rally enjoying life now?

Hi savypat,I'm sure too that it's just our perception of time. Kids can't wait for Christmas and teens can't wait to grow up so time is long for them. As we age we have less and less to look forward to and times appears to fly. I keep busy, there doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day and still time goes so quickly. Thank for sharing your thoughts. Blessings.

Hi savypat: I agree with you. Our perception of time change when we grow up. Sop it's normal that for a kid that is just waiting for Christmas, a year would be a long period of time but it's not like this. Thanks for your answer. Have a nice day. ALVARO.

Yes, but I didn't think it is me. People had more time, and I really can't explain it other than the days are getting shorter, it isn't because of my age, but the age of the earth..

Well yes, as children they are more impatient and so times seems slower.. But think about what a mans life was life back in the pioneer times and all the things he accomplished in one day without the machinery we have today. And when I read what the women did, Oh my give me a whole week to do what they did and I am in good shape too..

Hi carmelanirel, That's a new concept to me and I can't see the age of the earth making time go faster. It still goes slowly for children just as it did for us at that age. Time itself is not going faster, that would not be possible, it's really all in our thinking. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and there are probably many who think as you do. Blessings.

Hi gabs, I am feeling the same way, it's hard to believe that the year is almost half over. It only seems like a couple of years ago that everyone was talking about what would happen in the year 2000. The crazy thing is the older we get the faster it goes. Thanks for your comment. Blessings.

Maybe because when we get older we want the clock to stop and time goes faster than ever.

Hi Mirita, You may have hit the nail on the head with that answer. The older we get the less we have to look forward to. Kids have a lifetime before them and can't wait to experience life. Thank you for responding. Blessings.

I'm 22 years old, and it does seem that time does seem to pass by more quickly that it seem to 5 or even ten years ago. I'm really not sure why though. It almost feels like yesterday I was in high school or something.

Hi amelly, There is a little difference in our ages isn't there lol! I'm sure you think of seventy as old, but I am healthy and still enjoying life. I didn't own a computer until after I retired but now I wouldn't want to be without it. There is so much to do that I never have time to be bored. People your age are the future but I hope to be around for a few years yet. Thank you for coming here and leaving a comment. Blessings.

Hello Pose. I am only 23 but I feel that time runs soooo fast especially when I started working. No matter what I do, whether I enjoy what I do or not, I keep finding time flying so fast I can't even run after it. I didn't realize that I'm no longer a teenage yet sometimes, I still feel so young. I started thinking about my priorities in life and my time frames. I started to think of my own savings account, my own investments and my stability by the time I hit 40. You may say that I'm a paranoid but lately, I started thinking of my future even of my pension or retirement plan. LOL. Probably I just want everything to be set and well-planned.

Hi Honey, There is nothing wrong with good planning and one is never too young to start, I think you are taking the right approach. Having said that, you are also very young and should be enjoying this time in your life. I'm sure that I didn't find time going fast at your age but now it flies. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Blessings.

I'm already 27 years old and I felt like I'm already entering 50 years old. Yes time does flew fast and quick. It seems day and night collaborated to make me aged fast with out my consent. Soon another year will come and I feel like I have not accomplished yet with my present age. My life is like a stagnant lake and deserted as well. I admired those who are in their rife old age and yet they lived a meaningful and fruitful life. I admired those were able to live with their dreams and accomplish all their goals and ambitions in life. Me...i still have to make the first step. So help me God.

Hi reckon, Let me begin by saying that 27 is young and you have plenty of time for a long and fruitful life. We all have lots of problems but we can't let them defeat up. We all make mistakes but most learn from them. I can't say that I had an easy life but I have no regrets because now I can look back and see that there was a reason for everything that happened. Times seems to speed up as we get older. Thank you for coming here and sharing your thoughts. Blessings.

When one is young, everything is running at 100 percent. As one gets old, the body can't sustain 100 percent so it starts deleting things. It's a little like a tv picture. The more dots:the better the picture. Fewer dots means you can still get the picture but not as clearly. In conclusion, time is going at the same rate as always, however,as we get older. our perception of time decreases because we lost some dots. Time seems to go by faster. Kinda makes one wonder what else we are missing along the way.

Hi bird, I hadn't thought of that, I wonder just how much are we missing? lol! That's a good explanation of what really happens to us and why time seems to go so much faster as we age. It's all in the way we perceive things. Thank you for your comment. Blessings.

Yes i fully agree with you. As we grow up the span of an year time get decreased really. We talk about some years in general way. Think the time span of 10 years today when you are enough old. And think again the same time as when you were a child of 12 years. I think you will get the meaning.

Hi POse: I'm young. I'm just 22 years old but I have noticed this. For me times goes faster than it used to pass when I was just a litle kid. And I think this happend because when I was a kid a year was a very long period of time, at this moment of everyone life you grow, you meet people, you are studying in your school. So many things have to happend so you think that time goes slowly, but it's not like that. This depends on the perspective of the viewer I think. Thanks for asking us this question. Have a nice day. ALVARO.

Hi starsailover, It's true that time seems to go by very slowly when we are kids but speeds us as we get older. I don't think that most people of your age notice it but I guess it depends on the person. Thank you for responding to this discussion. Blessings.

This is an interesting question and thank you for bringing it up. Yes, I do think time seems to fly by more quickly the older we become. I'm "only" 44 but each decade I live definitely goes quicker than the previous ones. I don't know why that is. Perhaps it's due to me being in a rut and nothing constructive is going on but when I had loads going on in my late teens and early twenties, the time stood still, it just went on and on. And before I know it I'm in my 40s. It's frightening to say the least! Mum says it's worse for her and she's coming up to her 64th birthday!

Hi Janey, Getting older doesn't have to be frightening as it's much better than the alternative. Remember to live one day at a time and enjoy life whatever your age. I agree of course that the older we get the faster time seems to go. Thank you for sharing you thoughts. Blessings.

There will be some that may argue this one, but i swear my bills come on a weekly basis. The companies always says no, that they send out monthly statements, but i beg the differ. So yes, life is just flies by!

Hello Pose, Nice to note time goes faster for you with aging. That shows how busy you are even at this age. Same thing happens here for me too. I find time moves so faster every day. I keep myself very busy without wasting the precious time. Internet is also helping me to keep myself busy usefully. I learn so many things online every day. I hope this trend would continue till my end.

I am in my late twenties. I never felt time is going so fast till now. Everyday I am busy with my work and home related responsibities. Days go quick for me now because of that. I think what you are talking is right. My grand parents used to say this when they retired. They had nothing to do and they spend their day waiting for the grand children to reach home after school.

Hi daliaj, When we are kids we often can't wait to grow up and that is probably why we feel that time goes so slowly. Also we are waiting for birthdays, for Christmas, for the school year to be over and time drags. When we get older it starts to speed up. A great many people say that the older they get the faster time goes. I find that to be true myself and even those who aren't busy feels that times flies as they age. Thank you for coming here and sharing your thoughts. Blessings.

I'm only 53 and have been saying this for years. I remember as a child waiting and waiting for Christmas to come and it would take forever to get here. As an adult for many years now I feel like it comes so fast like everything else. I can't believe we are living in the year 2010. Its just crazy and I wish I knew why we feel this way. Maybe its because has a child we had no concept of time not until we are grown.

Hi lenin, Yes, I remember waiting for Christmas as a child too, as well as waiting for the school year to be over. It seemed to take forever to get here. Now I look at young men and women and say "when did they grow up, it was only a couple of years ago they were kids"? Thank you for responding. Blessings.

There are not enough hours in the day for the things I want to do. I guess when we are kids we can't wait to grow up and time seems to go slowly. Blessings.

Hi there! I tell you what. The days are flying by so fast now sence I graduated high school in 1999. Now I am 29 and at the end of 2010 I'll be 30 years old. Yes time is kicking in hard. Somtimes I wake up and can still remeber things like it was yesterday. And think to myself, omg! where has time gone. If there is a cure for getting old I would have to think about it before taking it.

Hi akaeaves, The older we get the faster times appears to go. You really shouldn't be experiencing that at 29 or 30 but I guess some people do. I'm not sure when I first began to take note of it but it appears that time is flying now. I'm always busy yet even those who aren't are saying the same. Thank you for sharing your story. Blessings.
