Do you ever get annoyed when you are filling out a form and it asks for your occupation and the only thing available for you to put down is unemployed? I have five kids and go to school online full time and it aggravates the heck out of me. The other week my daughter came home and said make sure daddy gets this form its for career day and since you just stay home he has to go. Oh man that hurt :( Stay at home moms do so much. I start my day between 4 and 5am do the normal stuff like make husband breakfast and get the kids off to school. After my husband leaves I wake up my younger two and give them breakfast and such then some house cleaning then school work.....the pattern continues throughout the day and I go to bed about 12 to 1am.... house wifes work hard and do so much I think all forms need to have a homemaker slot on them and people need to understand whats entailed. I am lucky that my husband recognizes what I do not that he helps out per-say but he does know and always notices :)

Sing it sister!
I get really annoyed when people say "You don't work", my response is "I work hard I just don't get PAID!".
Some forms do have a homemaker slot but not all and I'm not "unemployed" at least if I was I might get given some money!

If they have an other slot I will put that before homemaker, because there is so much involved in it.

You know my husband came home from work the other night. I had only 30 min of sleep the night before and he just looked at me and said "Go lay down honey I know you work way more hours than I do," be still my heart. i was so happy he said that. At least he knows how hard I work and recognizes it :)

Hubs and I just got married in September, so we don't yet have children. I lost my job and work online, so I guess I am a homemaker. I don't really do much admittedly though, but this isn't my own house so there's not much I am required to do either. In any case, I work online, I was filling out a form and couldn't put anything down for income for me, or occupation, so I got a letter back and had to call and tell them the info they were missing. The info was like hubs and my address (it's like we put that, come on people) and then my source of income... I didn't put anything because I couldn't very well see putting "homemaker" as it wouldn't make a difference.

you can write stay at home mom, and student on the forms. I am a stay at home mom to a child who is special needs, and I do a lot for her. i love my child, and I think it is the greatest thing for me to be doing. She is starting school soon, and I am very excited and thankful for that bc it'll give me a little bit of a break, and a chance foe her to see other children more often. I like being at home bc it allows me ro take care of my baby, work, and save money.

Oh yeah!! Annoyed is putting it mildly! I also get up early, though not as early as you, usually around here it's 7 as the only child in school now is in his 11th year, plenty old enough to get himself up and to school...my husband and I get up, I shower, he starts coffee, he showers, I fix breakfast, we eat, he's out the door.
I clean, garden when it's nice out, do all the laundry including ironing so that my husband and childrens clothes look good. I do it all, the kids, though they're grown, still don't have to do much more than clean their rooms and maybe pick up after themselves.
Dinner is on the table at 5:30 sharp and by 7:00 the kitchen is sparkling clean again.
And yet, I don't have a job!

I get annoyed. you are not the only one. I'm not a mum but even when i have been working full time i've never had a job that fits into the nice catagories that people give you.
If there is an option i always put 'other' down as my employment. Recently, as i've been trying to make some money online, i've started to put down 'self employed', as long as it's not an official make me fill in a tax form type document!
My mum 'didn't work' officially, her job was to be a mum, to run a home, to do all the things that allowed us to be productive at school and work. It's the most important job in the world and i salute you for being so dedicated to it!
