This photo shows just how tall/big my Clematis is. If stretched out fully it would be about 10 feet tall. Right now it is climbing up a tent pole I had laying around. This fall I plan on buying or building a trellis for it. It also has flowered early due to a very hot March. At the very top of the photo is one flower. They are about the size of an average mans palm and this variety is a deep purple color. Thankfully it did not die off from our mid-May frost. What is the talles flowering thing you've ever grown?

That is really cool...I am glad it didnt die off with the mid-may frost either, that is so heartbreaking when you put so much into a plant to have it die off due to the weather.
The tallest plants we have really ever grown would be our corn stalks, but the one that I am most proud of right now is my honeysuckle vine that we planted 2 summers ago and it is spreading and sprouting so much this year that I cant wait until the buds open in the next week.
good luck with the trellis and keep us posted on it!!!!
Happy Mylotting!!

My ap;les trees blossomed but got killed off from the frost though.
No apples this year it seems. Oh well. There's products out that can make it rebloom, but I feel let Mother Nature take it's course naturally. Kewl deal on the Honeysuckle. Got a picture of it by any chance?

Good to see you back here and glad you enjoyed your "vacation" from us!
My neighbor has some tall poppies and lilacs but nothing much is growing my my yard right now. We had frost up until May 14! I just got my garden in and hope it does well but it's awfully late. Next year I absolutely must be more organized and get a head start with the little dirt pots.

Thanks. It feels good so far to be posting etc again as well.
I planted Lilacs a few years ago and one is about 5 feet tall and flowered this year already. Along my back fence there's some Lilacs about 10 feet tall. Awesome smelling.

I have a lot of mint as well.
A very invasive plant to say the least.
But sooo good for teas and cooking etc.
I trim mine down to avoid them spreading is all.
They're like weeds, can be controled if ya spend time on them is all.

Besides the fruit trees? Probably the climbing roses.
I'll have to replace my trellis sometime this fall. Wanna build me one, too?

a 9 ft geranium on my sunporch.i didn't think they'd grow like that, but this one kept going up and up.had to stake it so it wouldn't break it's own neck.
i think it might have been a fluke tho.

many years ago, when my mum in law was alive, she went to a wedding and was given a button hole of fern and a rose to wear. Mum in law had 'green'fingers so she put the fern in a pot. It grew into a little fir tree, which was quite sweet, so she gave it to me. i kept it in the pot for a while and then planted in the garden. Year after year i kept it trimmed back and it was about 4/5 feet tall. Then one year i was very ill and hospitalised for a while. Couldnt do any gardening. When i was able I went out into the garden to inspect it and was shocked to see my dear little fir tree had grown into a massive giant! it got totally out of hand and ended up about 10/15 foot tall. I was unable to keep it trimmed plus it was right next to my greenhouse. We did move eventually and left it behind. And no I didnt take any cuttings !

There are some vines growing on the fence that would be really long if I stretched them out. They have small white flowers on them. The tallest thing we have that stands up are some lilies along the other fence. They are about 4 feet tall.

I love to grow morning glories. My house is raised ranch and I have them climb up one of my gutters along yarn. I even had to string them from the gutter to the pine tree 5ft away one year they were growing so well so I had a lil arch you could kinda say across my front porch.
This year since I don't have much luck by my side fence and I found some seeds @ Wally world I'm trying the Flying saucer variety on that one it's almost full sun but the roses I have that were supposed to be climbers haven't really climbed because they don't get high enough to get more sun *sigh*

Hi GRANDPA BOB,
I did have a Clematis growing in my garden for the last two years but I haven't seen it this year, maybe they will start growing later as our weather have not been too great.

I grew some sunflowers several years ago when both of my parents were living. They got very tall and were beautiful. The horses ate them, though, lol. We had a lot of cattle and horses back then.
