Its been up less than a full day, and we may have already placed one of the cats. The one at the top of the page, Roxie! She's actually been with us the longest and one of the roomie's co-workers/friends saw her and is so excited. She says that orange females are rare (only about 20% of them are female) and she's always wanted one. She currently has an 18 yr old tortie and has been wanting another cat but one that won't bother her "old lady." Well, Roxie is about 5, she's still got some "play" in her, but she's much more people oriented than cat oriented so she's likely to go looking for some human to play with her instead of another cat. Fact is, she really doesn't much like the other cats and while she doesn't seek them out to bother them, she will box them if they get too much in her face. She was also raised with children and loves them, and this lady has a young child and a husband. This is going to make Roxie happy because she is such a flirt with men! (this is the cat my friend "J" was "playing" the other night) She is also one of 2 cats that would play with the other roomie's grandson when she was able to have him over last year, before her son was able to exercise his own visitation because he was back in the States. We will still have Nef, who was the other cat in case the grandson comes over. So, after she is picked up, the roomie says she'll update the page. Meanwhile, check out the page and the sister sites and "follow" us! http://tldcatrescue.blogspot.com/

Awwww, that's soooo awesome already!!! Super good news ElixBxn. My daughter is on Facebook, can she (I haven't asked her yet but I'm sure she would, if she knows how) put your website on her Facebook? Do I just give her the website that you have in this discussion? I don't know how to do this stuff so that's why I'm asking. She is the Manager for a Scrubs Uniform company, and they just had a special sale, and if the doctors, nurses, etc. handed in a pair of usable but used scrubs, they are donated. She chose a pet shelter last year and a different pet shelter this year. It was great, and she passed out a bunch of scrubs for the employees who work there! I think she'd be more than happy to put your site on her Facebook.

and actually, she's about twice the size she was when that shot was taken, the vets weighed her today at 16 3/4 lbs! She's like a sausage - HUGE!

One of my favorite cats, Pounce, was an orange female. The one on this page, Paris, is also female and looks just like Pouncy did: http://rddcn.multiply.com/photos/album/265/More_Camera_pix She didn't take to me much though. Pouncy was all over me from the first second I saw her.

she is pretty, and I know how some cats just love certain people - Timus did that to me!

My first cat was an Orange Tab named Pumpkin. I loved that cat and it makes me very sad to think she is gone. Congrats on placing Roxie. Its always great to help a kitty get a forever home.

Great news Elic! I did wonder the other day about Roxie because I presumed that all ginger cats were male; I didn’t know a small percentage could be females. I know torties are usually females, is that right? A five year old cat is an ideal age because they are still young but starting to calm down a bit. Roxie is beautiful and I am so glad she has found a new loving home but who will 'J' play now?

"J" will probably be playing Tony or Timus.... Yeah, the tortie color has to have 2 "X" chromosomes to exist, so, the only way to get a "male" tortie is to have an "XXY" defect, and "he'd" mostly likely be sterile.

That's great news!! I figured it would help to have the website, but I didn't think it would be this soon. I didn't know that most orange cats are males, not that I think about it I can't think of another one that was female. I used to have a cat that loved men. One of her many nicknames started with an s (I don't want to type the whole word in case it gets deleted, but it's really not bad)! Hopefully you'll have more luck and give good homes to more babies!

Elic--tell her about Leontyne Priceless, Tina for short, who was such a loving orange lady! I miss her so much. I wish we had pics of all our "Rainbow Bridge" kitties...Sab, Pounce, Zu, Briar Rose, Turlow, Flirt...& all the rest. Nice job, y'all's blog! Its good you were able to place one of the cats. It was so quick too. Just remind the person interested, to avoid serious problems to introduce the cats slowly so that they get used to each other. This will reduce cat fights and other problems that can occour. I wish you luck in placing them.

well, her 18 yr old cat is mostly sleeping at this stage and Roxie, coming from a house with 20+ other cats, is not likely to go looking for trouble - she used to go after some of the other cats until they proved they were worse than she was when crossed, and she's now one to try and just avoid other cats

Congrats on a placement. That's wonderful! My orange cat is a male. He's getting less of an attitude and more of a familytude all the time!

I'm so glad to hear that youall have finally found a good home for Roxie. I know she will be very happy there! I think it's funny that she won't have anything to do with other cats and that she will box any of them that get in her way, lol! It's also funny to me that she likes men as much as she does, lol! I knew of a cat one time that couldn't stand men!

I've know a few that really didn't care for me, not as bad as the roomie's first dog who was afraid of young men. The way she acted, we suspect her first owner had been a young man who had mistreated her.
