Could Idol be more predictable?

For the third time, "America" has voted for the same guy to win American Idol. I mean don't you think Chirs Allen, David Cook and this year's winner are all very similar? There's also Daughtry that sounds very similar, too. Are we afraid of the more eccentric musicians? I mean there's Adam Lambert, that should have won last time, and Crystal Bowersox from this time who were both a little off the beaten path of pop music. I think the whole show is turning into one big joke. To me the idea of an "American Idol" is someone who is different and artistic, yet this show is pumping out more and more cookie cutter pop stars.

i am not from the US but we can watch the show. i find the idol becoming very predictable. i even saw in a blog that they call lee a poor mans david cook. so that means he has the same observation as you have. this season the contestant that i think was different was shibaun (hope i spelled it right) lee does not even know how to make his song as marked of his own not like david cook and adam lambert. i also think that todrick hall was a total performer that can sing and dance that idol hasnt have yet as a winner. just my opinion.

I agree Siobahn (I think that's the way it's spelled) was my favorite finalist this time.

I agree with you se7venthbird. The show is becoming predictable maybe because there's something fishy going on the show. When Casey voted out from the recent American Idol, I know that the guy(lee) will win even I find Crystal Bowersox a better singer/performer. I guessed in a competition is not always who is the best who wins but who has power, looks and popularity.

you are right there kat, just like between kris allen and adam lambert...it was a big WHAT???? when kris allen won when everyone knows that adam lambert was a sure win for the idols. what is up next year without simon? this must be good or else idol will no longer be watched and enjoyed.

Kris Allen is NOTHING like David Cook or Lee DeWyze. And I could kind of see the Lee and David comparisons, but David is a much better singer and a MUCH MUCH MUCH better performer. Lee should not have won. This entire season was a joke. And I don't agree with the fact that Adam should have won. I think Kris was the right person to win. Bigger and louder does not always equal better. Adam is a great singer, but I just do not like his tone at all.

Really? idk. I just thought that Lee, Kris and David all are just the boy-next-door, all-american type of guy (which is not at all my musical taste, lol!).

I didn't like Lee but I picked him or Casey to win from the beginning. Lee was appealing, visually, and his voice was unique. Not unique in the grand scheme of the world but in terms of his fellow competitors, he stood out as different. He reminded me more of Danny Goeke than any of the contestants you mentioned (absolutely nothing like Kris Allen). Frankly, I was completely unable to pick a favorite this year. I liked Tim Urban and I liked Aaron Kelley but I didn't love love them they way I have some past contestants (Kris Allen). Luck of the draw for me this year...or "unluck" as it were. I didn't even love anyone in the auditions who I was then sad to see get kicked out during Hollywood Week.

American Idol and everything that goes with it is So predictable. The people who "win" make it big for about a week, with the same kind of sappy "safe" love songs, and then kind of die out.. I am not really a fan of American Idol. I think it's run it's course, and should end. It just doesn't catch my interest.

You know what I completely agree with everything that you have said. I have seen that throughout these episodes and its right. The same type of singers are winning every year and the ones that are more different in a musical way, is not making it to the top. I know how they say that you can vote and hope that the one you want to win makes it through. But I'll just say this, that every time that I have called in and voted for the one person that I wanted to win and yes, last year, I voted for Adam Lambert (because I thought he truely deserved to win) he did not win. So I longer vote, I'm like whats the point. I do have to agree with you though in a way that American Idol has become a big joke and in no way do I see the people that are different are making it through. So then it makes me wonder, if they are truely looking for people that are different in a way or or they like whatever. But believe me it has not been the last we've heard of Adam Lambert and I'm sure we'll be hearing more of Crystal Bowersox.

I blame it on the teeny boppers who text their votes 11 times with ease. I honestly think that Lee Dewyze will be a good recording artist and that Crystal will land a good recording contract. But they are already great musicians. If the children are our future and they have rudimentary musical tastes, then culture might just go down the drain. AI producers should seriously limit their voting to phone calls. This year's Idol Finale gave tribute to legendary music writers and sadly, they don't make them like they did anymore.

Apparently America is making these winners happen by voting for the winners so maybe America likes that type of singer? I also think that Adam and Crystal should have won. I'm not saying I like them, I just think they can holler out a tune better than the others. Who knows, maybe some other company is making contracts with these new stars before they win and it's an offer they can't refuse? I do agree that American Idol is pumping out more cookie cutter pop stars as you would say. Take care

Crytsal would have won if she had stayed consistent in her performing. She lost it five or six weeks ago before the finale. Even Simon said that too on the Ellen show. In fact on the Ellen so he predicted that Lee was going to win. Lee won because he was improving each and every week consistently. He didn't take a month or so off thinking he had it in the bag. I think Crystal got a bit cocky and thought she was going to win. I loved that the public saw through this and didn't give her the title. I also believe the duet they did together showed Lee in a different light which helped him get the upper edge.

The formula is in the end composed of being cute or handsome. That would make one a sure winner.

actually, this season is the worst... the contestants... not so great... only a few is good.. and one of them is crystal.. and she didnt win... and simon is out too... a judge who really speaks his mind and tells the truth no matter how you will react on it... he knows his craft after all... hope for a good season next yr... good day all!!! :)
