Are you capable of killing someone?

According to my professor who found in a study, he said that around 80% of people are actually capable of killing another fellow human being.
It is human nature to act out of self-preservation for the self. The will to live is much stronger than the will to die. Would you kill out of revenge? To save your own life? When everything is all said and done Darwin was right, it's all about "Survival of the Fittest"
Short Story: A grumpy old man who always complaining about living in a nursing home and constantly complained that life was too hard was the first one out when there was a fire in the building.
My own story: When there was gun fire being shot and people started running the opposite way, my fight or flight instinct kicked in and I high-tailed it out of there, thus disregarding the people who I cam with. Does this make me a coward? Like I said, I was moving on instinct and my rationale was thrown out the window and the only thing that was going through my system was to get to a safe location and hide. Someone from my school did end up getting shot that day and has to live with shrapnel in his body for the rest of his life.
So let me ask you again. Would you do anything to survive? Even take the life of another person whether they be good or bad?

By nature, I'm a pacifist. I commit civil disobedience and have never once laid hands on an officer. However, if you are some rapist and you try to do that to me, all bets are off. I will hope you don't die because it will not be my goal to kill you. However, if it happens it happens. You should not have been doing what you were doing.

I guess it really comes down the will to survive by someone. If that person will to survive is high , even a coward is willing to murder/kill to survive. It is whether the person murder some one in cold blooded or by insticnt.i guess there is conditioning for person to murder.Like soldier they training to bring out the violent nature and put them into a spot where either u shot back and be killed. A person working in a butcher environment everyday expose to blood and gore or a doc expose to blood daily and gore will have more tendencies to murder so one.Especially those who knows that can escape from being caught.

I could never see myself as being able to kill someone. If it came to survival, this would be a hard decision to make. I don't know if I could take another life just so that I could go on.

Most people have a point, a trigger that would push them in to taking another life. How many Mothers could honestly say if someone was going to kill her child that she wouldn't do anything and everything possible, no matter what she believes when she has time to be rational, to save the life of her child. Even to the point of killing the person endangering them. When most people are asked if they would kill someone the people are generally to kind in my opinion and simply use survival instinct as an argument to show that person it is possible. The problem is that even the people most adamant that they would never kill to protect themselves can usually not say the same thing when it is the protection of someone they love dearly, especially if that person is a small child.
Honestly I think 80% is probably on the low end, but that figure was probably taken into account not including those who could be pushed over the edge by threats to their loved ones as opposed to themselves.

The Law of Nature says "only the strong will survive".. We cannot defy the law of nature. Yes, every one of us is capable in killing other people. we can do that, but it's not the idea that we can kill anyone whenever we want. circumstances would tell us when and how. Our primary purpose here on earth is to survive, we have to do anything to survive. it's a reality!

I don't know if capable of killing or not. I never in an extreme situation where I have to choose my life or to kill so I don't have a clue. Maybe I will kill to protect my children, which is still issue because I don't have it. Well at least my mom will do any thing to keep me from danger so I assume I will do the same for my children.

This is indeed a hard question to answer. Luckily for me I have not got in such a situation and can't imagine what I will do in that situation. I am not a generous person, a common timid person, chicken hearted, so I think I might sacrifice the other person's life for me to live. I don't think I may act as Jesus or any other heroes we see in movies. I will think for myself and let the other person die, if such a situation arise. In normal condition, I won't kill a person, or not even kill a rat.

Indeed we are capable of a lot of things, after so many years of nation building, it is a clear fact that humans are an evolving animal that never stop trying do new stuff, so in conclusion there's a blur line to what humans are not capable of doing. But it is just a matter of choice instead.
To me no matter what is the cause I will not take the life of others for a life is too priceless to be even taint by my hand. However if it is to protect someone I care then I might just end up giving my life in exchange instead.

I do kill people, on video games lol :)
I dont think any of us would kill as we like. We have justice and law here on earth. Unless if you're attacked or protect yourself, only those who are mentally disturbed would kill.

I think anyone can kill another person. It depends on the scenario. I mean, I don't want to kill someone, but I think anyone is capable of it. Either due to romantic jealousy, anger, greed, etc. I think a lot of the 7 Deadly Sins can lead to murder.

If I were about to kill someone, it must be when people threatened my kids life. I would do anything to keep them safe, and if it means that I have to take someone's life out of it, then be it. That's the only reason and no other.
