When downloading some applications or files on the net, mot of the time they refer me to a torrent site in downloading. But I hear that we can get viruses and trojans, worms by using torrents. Are there safe torrents that you can recommend

Yeah mostly it depends upon the torrent files you are downloading and also site from where you are downloading. isohunt, torrentz, etc are the sites which repeatedly check for torrent health and contents.. also you can first read comments of that torrent file and download so that you can come to know if any problem in downloading of that torrent or not. by keeping little care you can secure your system else there are many sources not only torrents to spread viruses.. so not to worry much. Good Luck :-)

Isohunt and Thepiratebay are the torrent sites that I usually visit. Ive heard about yestorrent and torrentz but haven't tried them yet. So far, I haven't downloaded a file with trojans or viruses, luckily it think for the mean time. i always check the ratings and comments before downloading a file.

It depends on the capacity of your antivirus to detect spywares and viruses. If it's free, it's bound to have something to pay for it's freedom.

I hear that now a days, nothing is for free, you have to pay for everything that you want or ask for. Maybe if you get something for free, there really is a consequence for it.

It defends of file like said of jaluke but some of them are good one and don't have virus, find a good unloader that have a high rating before you download the file. It would help also if you read the comments of other user who had recently download the files and I'ts very helpful to determine which file are not safe or fake. isohunt.com is the site that I'm downloading torrent's file. In movies the known uploader is axxo and jaybob this too guys are great they have a good quality torrent files and trusted by the most torrents downloaders. Read comments before download. Good Luck!

What anti-virus software are you using? Which torrents do you visit/use? Did you have trouble with downloading files from torrents already?

In the piratebay I think you can check from the comments of other downloaders if the file is safe, or you can also see a green or blue skull indicating "TRUSTED" or VIP i think, those are the only kinds of files I downloaded. And they really are safe.

Hello! From what you said I can infer that you have little acquaintance about BT download. BT is a "peer to peer" download style. To explain what is "peer to peer", I'll give you an example. When you want download a 1GB movie file using BT, the file will be seperated to 1024 1MB parts, or 2048 512KB parts, ... etc. You can download these file parts from other users' computers, in the same time, you should share the parts you've already got by uploading them to other users. Finally, all of the users will get the whole file. But several questions comes up: 1. where does the file initially come from? 2. how can I find the other users. The answer of the question is, there are some kind sharers, they use BT software to make torrent files, these torrent files include the information of the shared file, how to separate, the trackers to find other users and the sharer... Then the sharers will submit this torrent file (normally less than 1MB of size) to the internet, than you can download the torrent file and open them by a BT software(BtSpirit, Btcomet, utorrent, etc) and start download the 1GB movie file. So a normal torrent file will not make you get viruses and torjans, but I can't exclude the possibility of viruse or torjan disguise itself as a torrent file. The safety of the files you download from BT depends on the character of the sharer, it's no more danger than normal download from a link. I've download hundreds GB from BT, never got a viruse or torjan.

Wow, I really have no idea about that qianyun... All I know about torrents are just downloading whatever file I want. Maybe that explains why some comments says "seed pls..." does that mean that they want someone to share such file? Are seeders the one that shares the files?

Torrents aren't safe because most of the uploaded files by individuals usually have trojans, virus, etc included with the file. You should be very careful when downloading torrents. If you really have to then i recommend you get Microsoft Security essentials, it will scan all the torrent downloads and secure the torrent port. Try Piratebay and Isohunt, those are two really good sites.

No they are not!!! Downloading a torrents means downloading a file or group of files. And those files may contain virus or any hoax program. Actually it is really risky to download any files. The best way to filter them is to use a program that scan and filter them first before downloading them.

Hi there. In today's scenario, you can't escape from the threat of viruses. Do you feel, even if some one suggests a safe torrent site with zero virus, you will be able to safeguard your PC from viruses? Viruses will enter your PC from this way or that way. Even if you don't download anything from either torrent site or any other site, the virus creators are so creative, they will push their application somehow in your PC. The best methodology can be applied is to have a updated anti-virus application, surf only on the legitimate sites, and for God's sake, don't download movies or songs from the net. That's not a good thing to do too. By doing this we actually rob the creators of music and movies of their profit. By just spending a few bucks, you get these things with genuine quality and without viruses.

It is true that most of the torrents comes with virus and worms. I'm not sure whether if there is any safe torrents sites, but I personally don't think there is any. Nevertheless I most likely will search for torrents on isohunt and the pirate bay. The wise thing to do is after every download just do some scanning. Have a nice day.

Honestly it just depends on the files and it's hard to predict. When you're downloading anything, you're always taking a gamble because there could always be something attached to it that you do not want. I have downloaded from the same site and countless torrents have been perfectly fine and then I'll get a random one that will give me a killer virus. It's really hard to predict. The best I can advise you is to have a good antivirus software and be sure that you run it and scan files.

Yes, Im using Avast anti virus here is this good enough? I've been through a lot of anti viruses and no matter how strong or protected my or updated my anti virus, there are some that would still slip through it and causes slowing of my pc, when then really sucks. Are you also using uTorrent?

Everything depending on your brain. If you know what you search and don`t trying some new and unsecure software you will never download trojan horse or a virus. Dont visit any adult sites, they are full of viruses, For example, before 3 years i visit site like AdulFriendFinder and with opening this site for 3 seconds my computer stop responds, i restarted it and nothing - my file system was gone.

Torrents are used to download the content from different system online. And those can be at the danger on same level on what kind of file from where you are downloading. There must be a virus on a system from where you are downloading. So those can be dangerous. Otherwise there are lesser chances.
