Hi Hanna! It's always hard to change jobs, especially if you like your present job, but you are dissatisfied with something about the job, like you love the job but the pay is too low, or the pay is high, but you deal with a boss from hell. Well, it would really be good to talk with your boss first before officially filing your letter of resignation because he might be able to address your concern. Or at least let him know the reason for your leaving, especially if it's not really that personal, like you're looking for a higher paying job, or a job that better suits your abilities. It would also be good to notify your boss of your resignation maybe a month or at least 2-3 weeks before you actually leave to give him time to look for a replacement, and for them to clear your account and compute your final pay. Well, in most companies that is the policy, anyway.
Considering our difficult times now, it would be advisable that before you leave your old job, there is another job waiting for you. It's stressful if you don't have a job and the companies you've applied are not hiring you.
Hope this helps. Best of luck to you!

Would it not be possible for you to look for a job while in your current job? Because that is what I did for my present job. I quit the job before that only when I was assured that I got taken in the the next job.
If it is not possible for you, save a lot of money, so that you will have enough to sustain you while you are looking for another job.

i think before you change a job,you should think it clearly.when i change my first job,i took two months to find my second job.i think my first job took me too much time.so i change it.if you think you should change your job,and then you can do some preferation for it.such as don't tell your boss you will change your job untill you have decide change it and you have get another offer.hehe...have a nice day!

I am having a hard time motivating myself to find a new job and quit my current gig (at the dry cleaners, asst manager). I've been with the company for about 3 years, and I find it hard thinking about leaving it, being new again at a new company. It's so secure - what I'm doing now! That it's hard to leave or find the motivation to do so, even though I could make more money elsewhere..
