today my mom asked my if a would like to buy some dogs so as to breed them and make some money. she asked me this as i spend the whole day with my black lab. if i did this i wouldnt choose labrador retrievers as they might be too messy for the space we have in the backyard... but i thought about mini schnauzer or pug. what do u recomend? what would i need to get started? is there anything u would give me as advice?

Forget it! If you intend to start breeding seriously, first of all you have to fork out good money to obtain a suitable female dog for mating. Then you have to pay for stud fees. In case of animals several things can go wrong.
If you would like to make a good advert for your dogs than you have to show your dogs in open and championship shows. You might have to travel long distances in order to do that. There are already a big numbers of backyard breeders who are not doing any good to the breed or dogs themselves.
If you are going into breeding because you want quick money than breeding dogs is not for you. In order to make money out of breeding you have to take things seriously, participate in dog shows, after forking out a lot of money than you might get some of the original investment back.
