Can faith change what you are?

I can confidently say that it does. My faith has changed me to a better human being. It has helped me to realize the importance of spirituality. Helped me to change the way I view matters, helped me out of my bad habits and associations. Helped me to eradicate any feelings of hate and discrimination, helped me to be more patient, polite and decent , helped me to understand the meaning of life. I can say, I have left my old personality and wore a new one! What are your views on this matter.

Faith can be of many kinds, many types and many sorts. Only the right kind of faith would subdue the evil nature in you; and bring out the best in you. Not all faith can subdue the evil nature. Haven't we seen that the wrong sort of faith can turn one into a killer of men, women and children? They do so without any qualms of conscience. They do so for the sake of their faith. The right kind of faith is the one, which changes you into a kindly and a humane person.

Not only can it change you, but it should. If it doesn't change you, what's the point?

You sound like my cvlose friend. He is a Born Again Christian. His faith has Totally changed his life. He is far more open and patient. Me? My faith has added greatly to my life. I'm Jewish. When I found my path, I wasn't born Jewish, I felt like I had come home. So Now I Know I do belong , somewhere. That is a great feeling.

I believe that no human being can ever change you. People fail and most of the time it disappoints you thereby making you feel that it is a main setback. We have to find something that is beyond existence, a supernatural being that we could always emulate. This will be our only source of change because it never fails you. Our faith will always get us back on track no matter how many times we fail.

I strongly believe that faith can change what you are. My father is a good example of that case. When I was young, he was not a very good person. There were things we did but they are not very good but he is not a bad man. When he found the true religion and developed faith, followed the commandments of God, he is now the exact opposite of what he was before. He also said he regrets the day time when he was doing other things cause he could have devote all his time and attention in serving God.

You are really lucky to have that. It seems the Almighty has showered on you his special blessings and have converted into a much better person. For me too, I feel the same. I was a religious and pious person in the beginning I mean childhood. But then I started earning and I forgot that whatever I am earning is due to the Almighty's wish. My ego developed a lot and I stopped worshiping or going to temples. I got engulfed in bad habits such as chatting dirty on popular IM applications and I thought I won't get out of it. Suddenly one day I was jobless and then I started thinking with myself. I used to stay alone at home, no one to talk, just think with yourself. And again the wavelength with the inner me, what they call a small portion of the Almighty got established. And I started thinking why I am wasting my life in this dirty manner. And you won't believe but I quit dirty chatting in a day. I relied on the Almighty and prayed to him, that I want to get out of that rut. And swear, till now (almost 3 months) I don't get a feeling to login the IM application and do that. I am so grateful to the Almighty, that he has picked me and helped me to restart on the right way. Also I have started loving all people more, initially I used to get angry (I was bad tempered) by any of the casual actions of my family members too. But I found myself now a really calm person and if anyone tries to provoke me, I just take it lightly and try to keep the atmosphere calm. I really long to be the best person.

Change in that it helps us to shed that which is bad and undesiable and as a result allow the good in us to shine forth and grow. It certainly offers a beter way of life which makes us wiser and happier. Even after experiencing this change though we can sometimes fall back to the old habits and even take on new bad habits/behaviours.

Yes, I certainly believe that it does because it happened to me. A few months ago I joined an MLM company but I didn't have confidence in my ability to do the job. But because of people around me, and of course, GOD, I changed my perception in life. I started to think about my goals, and had faith in what I could do. It really did change me, because I always have a positive outlook in life, I'm always happy, I never get the feeling of being down because I believe that tomorrow is another day. :)

Hi keep_onwatch, faith on god will make wonders, there will be drastic changes can see in a person if they keep faith on god. I have seen this good change in mainly in youngsters. Every human being should have a break in their life. Spirituality will lead to self assessment. Through spirituality you will have a sort of link between you and god. The more you live in a state of God's consciousness. It goes on purifying your mind and thus mind gets strengthened. You can feel the presence of god in every action. You will experience yourself the tolerance and patience. Have a wonderful day.

I agree. Faith can certainly bring about changes in a person. If it cannot religious faith would be of no use. Even in other cases people undergo changes when their cling to a faith and live for it. I am one who experienced this change in my life. The change was for the better improving my personality, making it more extrovert and helpful to others. It gave more joy, confidence, and a goal in life. All this happened as the result of a divine experience I had years back.

I am a true believer of faith, first let us examine truly what faith means; Faith can be anything one truly believes in. Faith is not about going to church and or being reborn. Although there is absolutely nothing wrong with doing one and or the other, I can attest that I do believe in GOD! I do not go around convincing people they should too nor do I go around or professing the word of a God. One things for sure I thank God daily directly! I have overcome and I continue to stumble. I am however grateful that when I stumble, I pick myself up and am thankful that I have learned a valuable lesson for next triumphs. I am faithful that without GOD, I would not be where I am today!

Yeah! i agree. As humans we all tend to fall or rather stumble, but God will always be there to help us out!

When you have faith with in yourself that you can do many things and achieve the impossible it might be worth a try. When you have faith that you can change your old wasted ways and especially the mistakes you've done before then it will be very good. Faith is a strong feeling of endurance and determination to do something which to other is impossible. In my present life sometimes I lost my faith. There are so many sad things that happen to me and they just crumbled my hard earned faith. Now I'm back to gathering the pieces again and start rebuilding it. So tiring but I must go ahead.

Yes - FAITH CAN do some very nice things. It can also lead a person to very evil things as well. It's nice to be able to distinguish. I don't really have a problem with faith. I DO have a problem with the object of most faiths. If this object is a false idol then the consequences are usually more bad than good.

Yes it does. I agree. There have been instances where people were changed by faith. A good example of this is the movie "Fireproof". I don't want to spoil a good ending so if you want to know how much faith changed the main character then watch it. @keep_onwatch: Congratulations on your new faith and to your new personality. I hope you remain faithful to it.
