driving or commuting?

Because of traffic, motorists now prefer to commute going to places. It is less hassle in terms of driving and finding a car park. But then, driving your own car instead of commuting is more convenient in terms of comfort.
I prefer having a car wherever I go. Less pollution and I don't have to transfer from one vehicle to another. But my mom prefers commuting because she doesn't have to think about the parking and the traffic.
Which do you prefer, having your own car or commuting?

When I was living with my ex-boyfriend we were always commuting, we didn't have a car, so we didn't really have a choice. When I met my husband he had a car, and now I go by car all the time. We live in a village in the countryside, and it is a lot easier and cheaper to go by car. We have to pay for gas and things like that, but it is quite expensive to go by bus or train in my country, and it is cheaper to use the car. If we use the car it costs about $10 (gas and parking) and if we go by bus we would have to pay about $36.

I prefer to commute because of the following reasons:
1. I do not have a car.
2. It is a way to save mother earth. Lesser gas emission.
3. You can sleep while traveling.
4. No parking fee.
5. No traffic violation.

Nice reasons. Yes you can sleep. Just make sure you have someone to take care of your belongings :)

Commuting is definitely cheaper unless of course you have a smart car. The small cars with 1.3 or 1.0 engine. Lol! But driving is cheaper than taking a cab. That's gonna be too expensive already hehe

I would prefer to drive my own car. But facing with high fuel price right now, I would if possible, I can car - pool with someone near my place. One day I drive my car, another day that person drive his car. I prefer this way better than any method though. Well, commute with bus is not bad, but it might take too much time to wait, and it is not convenient for me though.

sometimes i'm ok with commuting during the day, however as much as possible i prefer bringing my car. i have had some unpleasant experiences when i commuted going to work and all, and that was the main reason why i decided to take driving lessons and drive my own car. somehow i feel a bit safer bringing my own car especially during night outs.
cheers and happy myLotting!

Oh, what happened? Well yeah, it is safer to be driving especially at night. Since most crimes happen when it is dark. But commuting is also good at night because we don't have to be under the very hot sun.

Because of the work that I do, I carry a lot of things which is quite a hassle if I commute. It will most likely utilize a lot of space and as such would be difficult for me to take a public ride. Well, if only I do not have these things, then I would just commute. It would be much lesser expenses for me. But considering the things I have, its much convenient and practical to drive my car.

My vote is for.. (drum roll please) HAVING MY OWN CAR! Not to say that I'm lazy, but our public transportation, while it's pretty big in my city (Minneapolis, MN, USA) can be dangerous, busses are often late, and it takes you about an hour and a half to get somewhere that it would take you 15 minutes to drive to (seriously) because of the routes and all of the stops. I can't be bothered to take the bus! The only times I'll take a bus are if I'm going downtown or uptown (where parking is HORRIBLE and terribly expensive) but I avoid it when I can.

I'm not quite old enough yet to be eligible for a license but once I am in 2-3 years time I would definitely prefer having my own car because it would be much more flexible and here in Australia, parking space is ample and the traffic isn't as bad compared to other busy cities in the world.
But the good thing about commuting is you don't need to wait too long for the next train/bus/tram/ferry wherever you are going and you can get almost anywhere.

So far, we have no vehicles at home, so we all commute. So far, I like commuting better but there are times that I would like to have a car. Especially here in the Philippines where is is HOT that it takes a lot of effort to commute than the usual. But even though I like to commute now, I also dream of buying my own car to help me get pt my destination more faster. Plus, there is aircon.

Driving or Commuting? I'd definitely choose driving. I love to drive because of two reasons; first, it's hassle-fee and second, it gives me all the comfort. It's hassle-free because you can go anywhere you want to. Driving your own car gives you all the comfort because you're in an air-conditioned environment with comfortable seats. While commuting, it takes a lot of time to wait for the ride and it's not giving you the comfort because you're sitting with a whole bunch of people. Driving your own car may be expensive compared to commuting but it pays for all your comfort and time.

Since I do not have a car of my own , i have no choice but to commute.I used public vehicle to traffic. Although I don't want transferring vehicles Ihave to do that. I get used to difficulty and challenge. I have to sacrifice for the long traffic and massive pollution. It is more good if you have cars than commuting, but the only problem is the price of the gas because it increase always and the car parking.

Preferring our own car is luxuriousness and commuting is good for Mother Earth. Hence if it is only myself I rather go by bicycling b'coz it not only reduces the Mother Earth from pollution it also save ones pocket,or rather it even helps one to reduce his/her body-fat.
While on the other hand if one is looking for luxuriousness with more no. of people say the family members it suits to be one's own private car, with all the comfort and safety whereby the whole family is together enjoying every-moment.

though i too would want to go round places with a car, i am okay with commuting by affordable mode of transportation. see its not only by taxi that one can travel and even if taxi cost much, the driver possibly will drive with agility like the one we once hired. he/s a great driver quite talented goes on top of our mind. its also good to commute because you get to meet new people like the beautiful girl i chanced upon when i was waiting for my dad at the cab terminal. right now we dont have a car yet so we have no choice.

If I were to have my own car, I'd probably prefer driving as it would be more convenient. If there would be a traffic, I could have the option of changing routes instead of staying on that path or even find shortcuts. At least, I could lessen my wait for the transportation vehicle to move.

For me I prefer to drive then to commute. Apart from the traffic and parking that I also don't like to worry about is my time. If I'm commuting I'll need to the station and if I miss the commuter I'll have to wait. But if I'm driving, at least I can go out leisurely at a specific time pre-determined by me. Also I don't have to worry if there is any last bus or anything, my car is still there in the parking lot waiting for me :)

I prefer really, having my own car but I still don't know how to drive. But I don't think I can give up the comforts of commuting like being able to do whatever you want, you don't have to spend money on gas and the likes. And yes I agree with your Mom, less worries. :)
