I am working on a paper and I need help. I need to know 3 things:
1. Why do you go on vacation
2. Are you male or female
3. What is the first thing you think of when you think of going on vacation
I'm doing a little research on the topic and need to know the different view points of vacation between men and women.
Thanks for helping me out! And happy vacationing!!
* For fun ... (not to be included in my paper) what was your most memerable vacation??

I go on vacation because change is charming. Vacation gives break from routine and acts as a good refresher and stress buster.I am a male and the first thing that comes to my mind when I think of vacation is going to hill station or sea shore with family.

Do men find vacations stressful at all?
The beaches are very relaxing.... I wonder why we all want to find one when we think of vacation?
Thanks for responding. This is very enlightening!

I want to go on a vacation to reward myself and its a time for self realization. Time to refresh and a time to be with your family. I'm a female 22 yo. My answer for number 3, freeing your soul.

Vacations are like a reward, aren't they? We spend all year saving up for them.. money and vacation days at work. We do all that work to organize it and make sure the animals and plants are watered while we're gone. It is a reward!
Great answers. Thank you.

I've never gone out of the country. It is a matter of how far away you can get from your regular life?
Thanks for being the first guy to answer!

Hi Bearballew!
I´m a 65 year old GIRL who loves vacations and traveling. Depending on money and health, I travel to different places. My last vacation was to the south of Chile, my country. They have hotsprings there and I needed that because I just underwent shoulder surgery. The vacations before this one were pure adventure as I was part of the crew of a sailboat that went to Kunayala (San Blas Islands) at the Caribbean. As you see, it depends on many things. I have gone to many places in my life so I don´t have a single "best" vacation. Each place has something diferent and awesome.
Thinking of it, I might onsider as my most memorable vacation the first time I went to Aruba. My husband was alive but already sick. In that week in Aruba he shed the years he put on when he got sick. I felt that Aruba was a paradise. I still go there once in a while to return to Eden.

Aruba is a little island that belonged to the Netherlands. It´s very near the coast of Venezuela. They have the perfect climate, a wonderful sea where you can bathe day and night, nice and helpful people. You can stay all day at the beach or you can do snorkeling. The capital, Orangestaest is little but lovely. There are casinos, if you like to play (I do, and its fun because there are 1 cent slots just so you can have some fun and not lose too much). There´s a marine and a beautiful souvenir market.

Hi sweetie.
Okay, i am a girl.
I go on vacation to relax and take a well earned rest.
The first things i look for, before going on a vacation, is how the place looks where i am going and if there are nice beaches close by.
TATA.

I go on vacation so I can get the see different counties in the word. Like last year I went to South Africa. I took my toddler son to Cape Town and the Garden Route. This year I will be taking him and my baby daughter to Canada.
I am female.
The first thing I think of when going on vacation is getting some travel guide books to read. I like to know how much accommodation is going to cost me. Then I book my flight.
My best vacation was in Central America. I went to Mexico, Belize and Guatemala. I loved seeing the Mayan ruins and going on an exciting cave adventure. I enjoyed doing lots of snorkeling to see sting rays and nurse sharks.

WOW! That's some impressive travel! I'll never know what that's like to go to all those places. You are very blessed! Your children as well.
Vacationing is also a way to bring those worlds to others that will never get to see them! Thank you for sharing.

Hiya! This might not help in your paper any more but Id still like to respond to it as a discussion, if that's okay.^_^
1. I go on vacation because Id like to have total relaxation after having straight hectic days of work. I feel that I deserve to have a break or as a reward for having done a good job(at least thats what I think.lol).
2. I am female.
3. The first thing that comes to mind when thinking of "vacation" would be "sleep". Like sleeping off the whole day or waking mid-afternoon, do nothing, watch tv mindlessly, then sleep some more. As for a real vacation(out of the house), I think of going to the beach, sitting on a lounge chair reading a book while people watching from time to time.
My most memorable vacation would be going to 3 different cities in 5 days. I saw a lot of wildlife, was able to learn about the town's history, food trip, and enjoy nightlife at the beaches. It was also the first time that I went out of the region(state) just to have a vacation.

I go on vacation to get away from the regular schedule and responsibilities of the regular home life. I am a female. I think of relaxation, room service, being waited on alittle bit, sleeping in, and enjoying a different way of life for a few days. Just a change from the normal.

okay, here are my answers :) ...
#1 - I go on vacation because I love travelling, going to different places, and experiencing something different, something new... Basically one of my expectations in a vacation is that I'll be able to relax, and I may get tired, but it's the healthy kind of stress that I should be experiencing.
#2 - I'm a girl.
#3 - The first thing I think of, most of time - the food. And the stuff I plan to take with me.
#4 - I can't decide which one is the most memorable one because so far all of my vacations have been equally great.

Wonderful response! I think each vacation is great, but they do differ for me in how wonderful they were. Each one has that one or two special memories attached to it.
Thanks for sharing with me. This is very helpful!

Hiya Bear,
Sadly I have not been to fantastic places all exotic ones but I have been to places in England and over here which would not be mentioned elsewhere and I have enjoyed them as much as I could. I am a girl first of all and the second thing I think of is just to have as much fun as I can and enjoy whatever I can.
There are a few place in England I have been to on Holiday well really they were Day trips and I loved them. Scarborough was one of my favourites and very small villages in Wales Chester was one of my places to go to and spend my Day off as we worked nearby in a Hotel right by the River Dee although we never managed to catch any Salmon.
Stratford on Avon and most places in Devon like Torquay, Paignton, Lynmouth and Lynton, Morecombe and Ilfracombe. I really like those kind of places for me they are equally as good as any places in Spain the magic they have is different.
Spain is really beautiful but I fell in love with Benidorm for the really striking Sunsets it has there is nowhere else like it and the actual People who live there and work there. When I think of Benidorm I am seeing not as a Holiday Resort but a different kind of place for me. I suppose it´s because I worked there and had contact with local People so it was never a Holiday thing for me. Calella de Mar is another although popular as Holiday place I don´t see it as being that for me. Bit hard to explain really but they have beautiful scenery. Really more than anything it´s the scenery and the feel of the place but again I have experienced the same thing in England in those places I mentioned. More than anything I love Great Britain you can never describe it altogether in one word. In Spàin they would say Ole to everything, but I would not change one trip or Holiday I have spent in England for anything. I also loved to go to Albrighton near Wolverhampton and Bridgnorth near Wolverhampton but they were not Day trips but I did enjoy going there and being there always.

Many of us do not get a vacation, you should include that in your study. I am female, 56 years old and have never had a real vacation since I was a child. There is no way to afford a vacation. I would like to vacation in a place with a warm but not hot beach with a casino and fun night life but it will never be. Many of us right now have trouble just paying our bills and day to day living expenses and have cut out every single unnecessary expense. Vacations are not an option.

i am a male, married and we have a four year old son. we wanted to go on a vacation first to change ambiance, second to relax, third to have nothing to do all day but just have fun and be together. no cellphones, no noisy vehicles. just pure serenity and enjoyment. the first thing that comes into my mind when i am going on vacation is a time to be together and an enjoyment time that is more than just going out at the mall. a quiet and relaxing vacation. a place where i will enjoy, my wife will enjoy and our son will enjoy as well.

We go on vacation to get away from our house and to visit family. We're a family of 2 males and 2 females. The first thing we think of when we think of going on vacation is who are we going to see first and what are we going to do first. We live 2 hours south of a big city, so we don't get a lot of city action. We drive 8 hours to another big city and where most of our family live. We try to go on vacation every year for a week so we can have the time to visit our friends and family. We try to go to our fave resteraunts and stores that we don't have opportunity to go to. So far our most memorable vacation, was last month. We went to Branson, MO for the first time for my son's and my birthday and met up with family we hadn't seen in almost 10 yrs. Two days wasn't long enough, but we made the most of it. I'll always have the memories of my son and I sharing this experience together forever.
