Is formula milk good for toddlers?

My son is now 15 months old, and I have been breastfeeding him. Recently, my milk supply has dropped, and I know it's going to stop breastfeeding one day. I am researching on what formula milk I should give to my son, as I see different brand has its own unique nutritions. Recently, I've read in a parenting forum that toddlers do not need formula milk when they stop drinking breast milk, as they already start eating solid food. Also, I've read some articles saying cow's milk is not good for human. I always think drinking milk is good, as it gives us different kinds of nutritions, and we may not get them from our daily food. What do you think about this?

Humans have drunk cows milk for THOUSANDS of years. Unless you are from a group of people that never domesticated cows for milk, milk isn't BAD for you. It isn't as GOOD as human milk, but its better than NO milk for most people. Get him milk, probably not whole milk UNLESS you have a young'n with an UNDER weight problem.

Hi there, thanks for your response. I always think milk is good for human, until recently I've read some articles that speak the other way. I agree that there are some people who just have totally opposite thinking of others, I am not sure if these have been scientifically proved.

I would be a concientious parent and do my homework but also listen to the children's pediatrician. Your own common sense should tell you what is right. There is always going to be some sidewinder saying something isn't good. If your milk supply has dropped I would use formula. We have with two babies and they are very healthy.

Hi there, thanks for your response. Yeah, when it comes to the kids, I always try to be more careful. I'll consult my son's pediatrician in the coming week, as I am bringing my son for the chicken pox vaccination.

hi kaka, you can always ask your pediatrician what would be the best formula milk for you kid. your kid is too young still not to drink milk and food will not be enough to make your baby healthy and to get all the benefits that he/she will get from milk. there are a lot of good formula milk in the market today it is just a matter of choice which will do better with you baby.

If you decide to switch to cow's milk, you need to have him drink "full-fat" milk often called "whole milk". They need the full fat found in this type of milk for brain development. I believe they need this kind for the first 2 years.

It is completely healthy for them, unless you have a baby that is overweight, then it might have too much fat. My daughter drank formula until two years of age because she did not like milk at all. For some reason when she turned two she started liking regular milk. The pediatrician also suggested that we keep her on formula because it had more lipids, and fats, and she just didn't really put on weight very easily.
