What is cached and similar in google Search?

Whenever we search something in google, in front of most of the links we get Cashed and Similar. What these two links are ? how are they decided? Are cached links really cached in our browsers cache or google server cache? Thanks in Advance

You have been answered by many members regarding the query. It is a very convenient thing to have this option of looking through a cached page while the actual web page is not available.You at least know that the site would be back after it gets restored - all the best and happy mylotting

Cached mean the stored copy of the page while similar is just the duplicate of the pages to be found. if the webpage has been updated the cache serve as the reference for the previous arrangement of the page. that's how i think it is.
