Fresh off the presses: Dennis Hopper at 74 died of cancer. I only know him in the series crash. His imdb lists him starring in over 200 films. Not counting directing jobs. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20100529/people_nm/us_hopper Which of his films is your favorite? Wasn't he in the Super Mario Brothers movie? That's my pick! Your thoughts? I remember a quote he said at Conan or some talk show that "his sons were asking him what the hell possessed him to do Super Mario Brothers?" I personally don't know what they were talking about I loved him as King Kooba in that film! R.I.P., sir. You will be missed.

I remember him best for two movies: Hoosiers and Speed. If you haven't seen Hoosiers I highly recommend you do. It's got to be up there in the top five of best sports movies ever. And it's so much more than just a sports story (it was based on a true story). And he made such a great villain in the movie Speed. He and Keanu Reeves played off of each so well.

For his role in Hoosiers, he was nominated for an Oscar.

Oooh I love sports movies especially the ones based on a true story. I love them all actually, the one with Sandra Bullock recently and the one with the Rock... Grid Iron Gang was the title. Thanks for the good advice, I will have to check that out! As for speed.. man, Dennis Hopper's just awesome as a villain enough said. He made everyone else look good in that movie. I'll have to rewatch that as well now. Thanks again! ++ to you.

Oh yeah he WAS in Speed too! Now this is why I started the discussion. Let the career digging commence. Often heard about Apocalypse now and its good reviews but never got around to watching it. Title sounded a little too serious for me, but will definitely check it out now. Thanks for your response! If you think of anything else please post here again! I remember a movie of his with Jodie Foster and she was super sexy in it wearing lingerie slowly and stuff. Kinda hard to find with over 200 movies to scan through. Anyway, Thanks again and take care also! +!! Meow

I enjoyed him in the Kevin Costner movie "Waterworld". If you don't remember his role he was the bad guy who was trying to kidnap the little girl and get the map to "Dry Land". May he rest in peace. Have a nice day and happy myLotting!!!

I was kinda on the fence on posting this topic before, but because of responses like these wherein I really get some quality answers I'm really glad I did. He WILL be missed, and he DID rock in Waterworld. My God, that guy can really play a villain. Another movie to re-watch! Gotta queue that and bear with Kevin Costner for a couple of hours just so I can see "THE" villain perform. :) Great response! Totally Nostalgic. May I give you a +? Already did. Lols. Good day and Happy MyLotting to you as well!! +++! :) Meow

It certainly is a sad loss and another one of the greats sadly gone. Although I didn't overly like Easy Rider there is no doubting the significance of the movie in cinematic history and Hopper's performance is quite something. I would say my favourite Hopper performance comes as playing Shooter in the basketball movie Hoosiers, here's a link to the trailer for those who've never seen it - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diwRrudKHDU

Ooh that does seem nice! I love those "Coach Carter" type films, and if I'd never joined, MyLot, posted this discussion, and never got this response, I may have never found out about this recommendation. So thank you sincerely for your response. :) Seems good I'll definitely check it out! I'd love to see him as the protagonist. Even in Super Mario Brothers he was the villain... Hmmm. Am I seriously the only one who appreciates that film? It's really crappy to the point of funny and he was even first to admit it. I love that film. But again I digress. Thanks for your opinion! I'm really glad I posted this discussion. :) +!
