Hi! Opal here! I am not doing well this weekend and being that
it's a Holiday, it's making it worse! I hate to be a "downer",
but I need to vent or something-oh hell, I just need my mylot
friends! I am waiting for some medical test results that I had
done on Friday and have no idea how long I will have to wait for
the them, but I am just feeling angry and upset about the fact
that the hospital is lacking and didn't care that the blood work
they did almost 2 weeks ago never got to my doc! So hence, the
concern and lack of trust! And being it is the first holiday
to begin Summer I'm just feeling sad! So, to all of you "Happy
Memorial Day, Happy First Offical Day Of Summer"! And what you
all doing?

Here is a big hug. Sometimes it seems doctors and hospitals just don't care. Two weeks is about 12 days too long to have to wait for the blood work to be forwarded to your doctor.
I am doing anything, I just got back from going grocery shopping with mil and eating lunch with hubs.

Well, I am waiting on some confirmation of some temporary work, and I have been told about four different things. Not so life shaking as your wait is, though. Hubby works, so we will not be doing anything much. We went to yard sales yesterday when he was off work. We will fix a nice lunch after church tomorrow.

Hi max! Great to finally hear from ya! Am sorry about your
having to wait too~ I just have alot of stuff to deal with
at once! I appreciate your prayers, and you are in mine too!
I prefer white and don't live near water, but so wish that I
did because I love the sounds of rivers, streams or oceans. To
me those are the most calming sounds ever~ Hugs, Opal

Hi Opal....sorry you're having such a rough time of it with waiting and all. You know that's the problem with lab tests, especially blood work. Yikes I remember my very first doc when I was a kid...HE did all his own testing, had x-ray machines, the works..was almost like a mini-hospital in his office. Nowadays one is sent here or there for tests and according if they take your particular health coverage...like heaven forbid you can get tests done anywhere and with anyone

Well the one problem too, is that I think the medical profession in general doesn't take care of patients who are under Medicaid as well...If we had a health plan where we were paying mega bucks into they treat us better (I used to have Blue Cross/Blue Shield and that cost a small fortune way back when)

Hey pye~ The whole problems is this Medicaid crap and my having
to have my tests done at the damn hospital instead of the
"medical Group"! They just had to put it in the computer so
my doc could see it! Now they have to send it to him, like that
is so difficult! He is a doctor on their damn staff! The staff
at the hospital is so rude, cold and obnoxious and I used to
work there! I couldn't believe had the CT Scan person talked
to me or the ET triage nurse did! They were so rude! I am
writing a complaint letter, and you know I will when this is
all done! Wish I had their names! Don't care, will do it anyway!
I used to work for Surgeons, who I actually saw one of them
yesterday, but they called me for my CT Scan so I never got to
say hello too! I was in the Pre-Op Admitting Area all the time!
It was so different then! I booked surgeries and I knew how to
be compassionate! Some of the women were having radical
Mastectomies! It doesn't take much to know how to be a feeling
compassionate human! I went home and cried sometimes after
a days work! Wonder why?

Hi Opal! Don't feel angry please, because the word ANGER is just one letter away from the word DANGER. Today I am just staying home trying to catch up on the ever mounting paperwork that life throws my way, but the sun is out and I am a keystroke away from online buddies and a few footsteps away from friends who live on my block so truly I have nothing to complain about on this drowsy afternoon.
As for your hospital situation, it seems to me that people put too much trust in such institutions and that it is better to look into ways we can depend on ourselves, but that is just my opinion. What is it they say, laughter is the best medicine. Let's see, what funny thing can I try to say to make my friend Opal laugh?
Oh, well, how about just a big HUG. Will that help a little? I think I will go make some raspberry mousse. The last one I made turned out pretty good. Take care!

I don't have any plans, myself. I'm sorry that you are having to do all this waiting. I know how it is, though. I hate to have to wait on anything, myself, especially when it's concerning something medical. I don't blame you for being so upset about the hospital not getting your blood work to your doctor when they should have. I just hope that everything works out better for you and everything will be okay. That's all I know to say.

It does seem like the more important the test, the more likely it is to be delayed by someone not doing something that they should do. Hang in here and do lots of Lotting to take your mind off of things.

Hi cyrus & Gerty! I'm just so frustrated! This hospital just
seems to keep making one mistake after another! And it all
comes down to this "Medicaid" crap that I am paying for! My doc
is not used to managing my care through the hospital and it is
getting more difficult then I thought it would be! I am just
having a bad time with all the stuff they are putting me through
and the lousy attitudes of the people that work there!

I remember that discussion you started several months ago about you having to pay for your Medicaid now. That shouldn't be right since that's a state aid program. I get Medicaid, myself, and I don't have to pay for mine. I don't understand why your doctor is having such a hard time managing your care through the hospital. That doesn't make sense to me. I just hope everything works out for you in the long run. I'm sorry to hear about the bad attitudes of the people who work there. They shouldn't be rude to their patients because that's not right. It looks like you could report this some way. Hugs!

Hi Hun,
I am so sorry that you have had to go through this much of an ordeal! I too know the feeling of waiting for results ... days feel like years, and it is definitely the hardest part. Hopefully they get their a$$e$ in gear and you find out your results very quickly. Try to relax and have a great weekend my friend! BIG hugz!

Hi Purple! The blood tests were just the beginning! I will
be writing a letter of complaint to the head of the hospital!
They have made too many errors and the rudeness and lack
of concern have to be addressed! In other words, they have
really pissed me off!lol

Sorry to hear the hospital isn't doing things well. It does take a while. Hope you get good news. I am just staying around home. Wish we could go to the mountains but probably not a good time for it anyway. Too many people and I don't do well in crowds. Hope things turn out okay. Take care.

Hi celtic! I'm not big on crowds either! I'm supposed to stay off
my foot, but I have to do some errands tomorrow so will be doing
some running around since Lonnie will be going with me. Besides
all the tests I had done I was in the ER because my ankle swelled
up and I was in alot of pain! They kept me there for 3 hours and
did x-rays and blood and now think I have gout! Yipee! Anything
else? Wait till my doc sees that diagnosis!lol Wonder what he'll
think of it since it's mostly men that get it and he and my
Orthopedist never thought that one up!

Hi bunny~ I know that you understand and I am sorry for what
you went through and glad you had someone there with you. I
can't even think beyond this point right now. You know my
situation is mostly roommate stuff and who knows what else!
So right now I am trying to just wait since this is going to
be difficult to get my doctor to get the damn results since
this hospital is really screwed up and that is what's bothering
me! I don't know how many phone calls it will take for my doctor
to get the damn reports and get back to me! I know I am going
to be really aggravated an waiting who knows how long!

Hi Opal.
Sorry this too late. Hope by now you've already gotten the results you were waiting for. I didn't really read all the responses already in here. Just jumped in to make a response when I saw the 'help' on the title, even though I am already a week late.
I'm still trying to catch up with all my discussions...
Hope you are well!

Hey Opal!
The more you think of them the more you'll get upset.
You have done your part.
And you have to let go of this...
It will drag you down otherwise.
It's nice to have a little walk in the sun...
Hope your blood test is good.
Take care Opal!

hi opal.... new friend of mylott
it would seem that you have a large selection of concerned friends and all are willin to give support., so What a Blessing that is...
In these times of concerns particularly with hospitals and such it is hard not to get over emotional or worked up about the , what seems to be the off hand way, and impersonal way we are dealt with...
But agree with another comment not to be come Angry,
It sends the wrong message to your body, stressing the weaker bits, and makes you feel tired, and therefore more frustrated..
Choose to relax., to be calm and make the effort to relax, rather than create stresses., create peace., with in...
also watch a comedy film, and laugh., smile and laugh some more...
Not trying to tell you off, or not be considerate of your feelings but when you are calm and peaceful and the opposite of worried., by laughing and smiling in reduces the strees on the heart and blood pressure and sends your own healing and well being through your body.. kinda self help you could say...
Just thought you might wish to try an alternative to your current state, if you can
sending you warmest wishes and thoughts xxx

Hey arizan! And thank you "new friend" too for your concern!
I do appreciate your thoughtful reply. And you are absolutely
right! I did try to watch some comedies and do things to get
my mind off the stress! It worked for awhile. I still have one
more test to do. The problem is my insurance situation is very
complicated and that alone is stressful to begin with! But,
I am doing the best that I can to hang in there~ Thank you
again for caring and sharing, hugs, Opal

I'll be doing nothing. So I'm probably the wrong person to try to cheer you up. All I'll probably be doing is watching DVD after DVD of seasons 1-3 of The Nanny. Yep, sounds exciting huh? I'd like to be put to sleep for a few days. Just sleeping and nothing else. I guess that isn't going to happen. Would you rather sleep until the minute they give you the results? Waiting is horrid.

That sucks that they never sent the results to your doctor. Are they making you re-do the tests? If so, then they are scamming you if they are charging you or your insurance. I realize mistakes happen, but to blow it off like it's nothing is unacceptable!
In the meantime, though, if I were you, I would do my best to push it out of my mind and keep myself active (physically or mentally) so that I don't spend every day worrying. You know you can't know until after the weekend, at least, so just enjoy your weekend and go about your time as you would normally. I know it's easier said than done, but it's the best option.
Or you could call a crisis-line and talk about it to someone there - just to have someone to listen to your concerns and maybe even give you ideas on how to deal with it. There are times when medical professionals volunteer to work the lines and they may even be there when you call. It's luck of the draw on that one, but it does happen.
Good luck, Opal! Don't let hospital ineptitude ruin your weekend.

I am sending you positive thoughts and wishes, Opal. But, it's unbelievable how we get screwed when we've done nothing wrong! I hope the changes in health care regulation will make it equitable for everyone so that it's a fair system and not one that stabs you in the back for not being poor or rich enough.

Hi Opal dear! My response is two days late but you know I want to let you know that you have all the reasons to feel that way. Why did it has to take two weeks for that simple procedure? Indeed you are right! Obviously, there is lack of concern and I believe they have to be rebuked. Nevertheless, I pray your blood test will yield good result.
And you know it is not only you who had that kind of feelings. I hate the lack of concern of medical people too. You know what...my husband was hospitalized last week for two days due to severe abdominal pain and I was also annoyed with the lack of concern of the doctor and some hospital staff so that I had to raise my voice during our check out. On the day we were told we could go home, I felt there was no genuine concern at all! The doctor did not even appear to give assurance to my husband that everything is fine and not even a single resident doctor came to give me husband final word about his health condition. They charged a lot but they did not really serve us well. They just took advantage of the medical card of my husband. It is very obvious this hospital is only after the money of their clients. I will never go back to that hospital again and would write a blog about that hospital so that I could get even and also to warn my fellow Filipinos about their very bad services.

Good Morning! My husband is back into his feet. He is doing fine and I thank God for this!
After hearing all what you said, I believe you have all the reasons to write a complaint. What is taking them that long? They are not doing their job! This matter should be dealt with accordingly.

I have learned in today's world that if I expect soneone else to do something I better get a time line and put it on the calendar so that I can follow up and make sure the information arrived where it was meant to go. It's just to easy to get overlooked in these overworked systems we live with. Another thing I have found is tht if the information is bad it's usually gets where it was going. I know this doesn't fix the frustration but maybe a little ray of Sunshine.

Hiya Opal,
Sorry I was´nt on here the Weekend. So sorry to hear that those People take on such a bad attitude. How dare they be so rude and to have no consideration for anyone. No one likes going there and having to wait and then have to wait again for the results. I have come across some really rude Doctors and Nurses before but I have had to swallow my fiery Character and put on a big smile on the outside. Seems like your Doctor really does care though Opal which is something. I had some really rude People see me when I had my last Baby but nothing that I could´nt cope with.
Hope things get better for you Opal I´m sure they will.

Hi lovingangel! Nice to see you, as always! It was just too
much, because it wasn't the first time I had a problem with
this particular hospital! And my doc still doesn't have my
blood test results from May 17! And I don't think he has the
CT Scan results from Friday either! I am writing a letter of
complain to the CEO of the Hospital! Funny thing is I used to
know him years ago! He needs to know that his hospital staff is
disgracefu in attitude and in work procedure! I worked with
this hospital when I was working in them medical profession
years ago and can't believe how they have changed!

Hiya Opal,
What a shame People have to be like that even in Hospitals where you think you are going to find nice People all the time. But really I don´t think the problem is just there it´s all over the place on every level. You think you can know People because you have worked with them and known them and yet at the drop of a Hat they can turn around and be the opposite. I am happy to say that this never ever happened to me in England when I was there with my Mom being ill. Overworked underpaid Nurses and Doctors running their feet off all Day long and yet I listened to People who would come to the Wards always complaining about the Staff. They might be working in not very good conditions but the majority of them really care they really do. Of course you will always find the odd one amongst them trying to set the cat amongst the Pigeons but mostly everyone I met in the Hospital were very hard working and unassuming in going about their Work.
I suppose it must be that stress has set into them on a much deeper level and some People react to stress with an aggressive manner of being.
I´m sure that most of them are like the ones I met in England but you know them better than me of course so I really can´t vouch for People I don´t know anything about.
Spanish Doctors will admit that the best part of their Training was when they were working in English Hospitals as when General Franco was alive this is where they used to go to learn the basics and English of course.
There was only one Visiting Nurse that I had to cope with and she was hell bent on telling my Mother about her condition and I told her straight she will not get to know anything while I am here and you should have seen her Face (grin).

Opal sorry to hear that about the awaited results. That has to be difficult. I am doing what I plan to do all weekend, chatting, posting and getting informed. I think it has been a rough year for a great many of people in general, so I am happy to say it is a great pleasure to have encountered so many wonderful people here on myLot to share lot's of wonderful words of wisdom. So my advise to you, although easier said then done is to keep busy. I would say read a book, but you know what there is plenty to read here on myLots that I cn almost bet that you mind would be at ease for a great many hours. Then there you have it the weekend will be over and we/you move on to the next triumphs. Happy holiday to you too!

Yeah when we get too many choices we get a bit overwhelmed, but go ahead pick one you will find that it will get your mind off the results you are waiting for, but we won't talk about that, we are trying to get you to put the mind into at ease. Good luck to you and by the way reading here is fun also. You get to learn about others with much bigger issues, and that will make your mind a bit more comfortable. Good luck to you. I am going to friend you I love to read and chat. :)
