hi kumar I felt devastated as all the rest of the staff thought I had decided to retire, when the truth was my library branch manager had decided to let me go as she felt being almost eighty was a crime to be working there, really she kept saying this is the hardest thing I have ever done, I hate to do this, you are my best worker, but at the same time she had to let me go, her way of saying you are fired. The truth came out later when I got called back from library headquarters, your branch manager and assistent have been fired because they had no grounds on which to fire you, age is no reason. this is called ageism. but as I was in the hospital suffering a smashed left shoulder I had to refuse to come back. good thing I did as the result of surgery for shoulder joint replacement I lost most of the use of my left arm. thus making it impossible to shelve any sort of media. So the last day of my job was very bitter sweet.Hope you have great success ahead for you.

hi miss hatley, you know what? i really admire you for being so smart the fact that your age is like 4x of my age.. i am on my mid 20's and sometimes i often forgot things and its not easy to get those things lost from my memory.. i need at least a day to recall everything.. my grandmother who used to be busy all the time is just like you.. she has a very sharp memory and she always like to work. she keep on doing and sorting her own stuff even my aunties and my mothers are there to do for her.. she also love reading and writing. but i know her very secret to keep her memory young.. and i hope i would inherit that from her... i felt pity about what your branch manager have done to you during your stay in the library. they deserved what happenned to them. but onthe other side, perhaps they really care about you without knowing your ability that you still can manage to do your job.. they judged you by your age.. anyway i have learned one thing from your and that is the ageism. although i dont know what was really meant by that and so i need to research for it... by the way, as my boss requested to stay one more week with him while he is looking for my replacement, i gave him a chance and promise to train the said guy before leaving... we smoke together a while ago and we had a lot of talks regarding myself even personal matters... there is a feeling inside of me that i can not explain when we finished talking.. he encouraged me with a little bit insist not to pursue my resignation but i said my decision is firm but he is still persistent.. right now i am confused...

Hiya kumar, Hope you got settled into your new Job I am a bit behind the times here. Never mind I had to make many drastic changes and all to Jobs I had never done before and I managed to adapt to all of them except one which was a very heavy job in a Factory where they had promised me a ligther job. None of that it was very hot, smoky and I had to lump heavy trays around walking on very greasy slippery floors so I upped and left it. That´s the only Job I could not get my Head around. Anyway you will settle into your new Job and you will still remember your other Friends too that happens good luck Kumar hope you are getting on okay there.

Hiya kumar, When you don´t feel respected for the Job you carry out it´s time to opt out whenever you can. You are doing the right thing taking time away to think things over and rest which is the most important thing.

Thanks I was once respected and appreciated but that was ended. I am performing my job very well and I am getting it done very well if we have a deadline. LIke production report, delays, etc.. That's the time I started figuring things out and when I came up from the pros and cons, quitting is a far more better option than to deal with them..

Hola Angel, You know I come into a job with respect to everyone especially the higher ones, bosses. But when it is not reciprocated, I start looking for somewhere else or even not. So I will just go and have rest. Weight my options and start looking when I am done.

I definitely would be really happy, because my career is moving forward, and sad at the same time, cause I have made really good friends in the office, and I feel sad that I won't get to see them everyday and have lunch and snacks with them. I guess moving forward and changing jobs is really hard, but it's really needed to for career growth. Good luck on the new path that you're taking.

in your case, you should be able to heave a big sigh of relief... jumping to another boat carries the usual apprehensions, but getting off a bad one may be a blessing... good luck and may you find a good working place and a boss that respects other people, even their subordinates...

Hi Sir, this is really a big stroke to my fate. i think my resignation might put in vain.. i just have learned from one of my supervisor a while ago that they will block list me to this big firm's affilliate. meaning i can not transfer to any of this affilliate's department.. but i know i will continue my resignation as i still have a choices.. this big firm that i am talking about has a lot of affiliates and maybe this is a big favor for me as i could try new from its industry and new sector as well.. they have fertilizers, iron and steel, oil and gas, plastics, chemical, polymers, petrochemicals just to name a few.... right now i am really depress and just pretending to be happy in a merry go round until the extension that they asked will due.. i really hope and pray to god that i will win over it...

For how many years of working I have not encounter that situation yet, because everytime I resigned its always immediate resignation. Once I passed my resignation it always effective on that day. But if ever I am in that situation I guess I would celebrate. Celebrate because I will be in another career path another opportunity in my life. I wont be sad nor worried about it, Just like you I have also strong determination, with our positive thinking I guess this would lead us to success.

Hmm...I would probably be worried about finding a new job, and won't be focus on the last job I'm about to do. So it'll be pretty much a mess. A lousy work for my last day.

It would be really a difficult decision to take. Because it is my first job and there are so many things. I think my emotions will be mixed as yours. I will be excited to know what is in store. How will be processes in new organization? Who will be my new co-workers? And how will they be? But at the same time, i will be thrilled about the new challenges new job is going to offer. All the best for your future endeavors.

honestly, i have no prospect who's and what's next for me. i am quiting because i just want to have some time to weigh my options what and where would be my next job site. would it be in the north or central part.. i am in the east and i am exactly wishing that i would be mobilized near my relatives at the center part of this country.. i am really thrilled because i am excited what will be the next chapter of my working career. and you are right it would be more exciting to see more challenging job ahead...

hi well, if leaving your company is such a relief for you, then you should be happy. if you are leaving the company for good reasons and without apprehensions, then be happy. when i left my previous company, i left without regrets. i was happy for myself because that was the chance for me to be in a different place and face new challenges. scary, yes. but afraid? nope. i was leaving for the right reasons. on my last day, i felt both excited and sad. excited because it was the start of something new. it was a breath of fresh air. sad because i was saying goodbye to the work that has been keeping me busy and mobile for several years. also, sad because i was leaving behind some good friends. but i had to do what i had to do. i ended up being happy and quite sad on my last day...and it turned out well. because when i look back, there is not trace of regret. good luck on your last day. am sure there will be happy and sad tears for you. but you are just on the right track

hi dear, we had a nice talk a while ago. he invited me to smoke with him outside and so i went with him.. we really had a long and nice talk about everything and i almost forgot that i am leaving him.. i will be still working with him for a week as what he had requested but surely after this i got to go.. i have seen his face on how it turned red during our initial discussion and i dont know what does it mean.. all i have known was he does not want me to leave and just continue my work like nothing has happened.. but i dont know if i still believe on this.. i know his mood and he often change.. if he is blue in the morning, another color in the afternoon and again before the dismissal.. i am tired chasing his beats...

I have been in that situation quite often as I have had many different kinds of jobs and lived at many different places. When I know that the next day is my last day at my job I usually have mixed feelings about it. If I really liked the place, the work and my co-workers and I am a little sad that I will no longer be working there, but on the other hand I am usually excited about trying something new and getting a lot new challenges and experiences. I love trying a lot of different things and learning new things, that is one of the reasons why I have had many different jobs.

If I were on your shoes, I will also have a mixed emotion. I will be sad to leave the company to which I have gained friends but at the same time, happy and enthusiastic to land a better paying and a brighter opportunity. Change is inevitable and that includes the company where you are working.

hi dear, we really need change in order for us to grow.. friends will always be there for us no matter how far or near they are.. i left a lot of friends miles away from me but we still often see each other thru internet.. this is really the product of human ingenuity..
