I have a problem with my laptop. I was actually encoding or writing some discussion here at mylot when suddenly the screen of my laptop blacked out. The lights were still on, yet the screen just gone black and no display. What went wrong?
To those laptop experts out there, can you tell me what was the possible problem? Thanks in advance for any solution or for helping me out.

Hi, maean_19. I am no laptop expert, but when I was typing a while ago, I went to submit my post and when I did, the screen went to another page about me being banned. So, I just went back up to my browser and resubmitted my post again and it went through. One time I had to write my post all over again because my page just disappeared. It was very strange. I don't like having problems like this. I hope that you won't have anymore of your own either. It could be a glitch in the system, I hope.

That particular case may be due to worm infection. I had a similar problem and I was affected by a worm called vb.vbs

first off - have you tried shutting off the lap and turning it on again, did that make the display turn on? or is it still off?
if it's still off, looks like you have a problem with the LCD display. It can be a video subsystem problem, or a problem with the lcd itself.
either way, you'll have to take it to a repair shop, because these sorts of problems aren't user-fixable. If you have a spare monitor (CRT or LCD), and your laptop has a secondary display port, you can try plugging into that so you can continue using it, it seems to be still running, as the lights are still on. Otherwise, gotta take it in into the shop.

I was then at my Facebook account and responding to a discussion here at Mylot when suddenly the screen went black. The lights were on, but no display can be seen. So, I tried to restart my laptop by switching it off and on. After which, it worked again. That is why, my prob is what caused the blacking out of the screen? Thank you for sharing my friend.

i never had a problem like this with my laptop so far and i am thankful for that. what i experienced lately with my desktop, a blue screen made the windows disappear and i never bothered to check what went wrong. there said that i just need to restart my system if the same problem occurs, so i just restart the system and everything went back to normal.

Hey did you try restarting the laptop? Did it come back with the same no video problem?
Did you try turning it on without the battery, just the AC?
When you turn it on, do you hear the windows log on sound? Did you make sure that it was really no display or just a dimmed lcd?
There are a lot of factors and things to check to be able to ID the possible issue. However, if these things still did not help you diagnose what the problem was, take the laptop to the nearest repair center. It seems that either you have an LCD issue, or a video card issue. They will be the best to diagnose what the problem is. :)
