I can't sleep when people around me are making noise like singing, laughing, and telling stories in a loud voice. There was one time I was in a camping site of teen agers because I was one of their counselors, the teens are noisy, laughing, telling stories in a loud voice even if it is midnight. They are not in my jurisdiction because they are from another unit, so then I was so pissed off because I can't sleep. But some of my co-counselors are sound asleep in spite of the noise. I really admire their tolerance. What about you? can you do that? sleeping in a noisy environment? I can't.

Hi Bebs
There is a proverb in my mother tongue that says "If you are really feeling Sleepy you can sleep even on rocks"
In normal condition one will not be able to sleep in noisy condition or in bright sunshine or on hard surface. But When one has done sufficient hard work physically as well as mentally, and when rest is must for body and mind then one can sleep in noisy condition, or in sunshine or on hard surface.
As regards me, in normal condition I can not sleep in noisy environment, but when I need rest badly I can sleep when my family members are watching TV in high volume.
Happy mylotting.

I'm a very light sleeper to begin with so no. Any type of noise or light will keep me restless and tossing and turning. I have actually tried to sleep with earplugs but that is very uncomfortable for me. When you are trying to sleep there is nothing worse then dealing with noise around you. I don't know how people do it who work the nightshift, and have to sleep during the day.

Most of the time, I like to fall a sleep with soft music at low volume off course. I helps me clear my mind before sleep. I live at place with constant noises ans these noises really don't bother me neither to fall a sleep neither when I sleep.

Hello Beb. I could sleep in a noisy surrounding if it so happens that I am rather tired and sleepy, but for sure that kind of sleep is bad in quality as I think that I will have a broken sleep to be woken up by the noise if the frequency of the noise does not keep the same. You know what I mean, my dear friend?
Of course, a quiet surrounding is the best that we can enjoy a quality sleep. Have a wonderful day, Beb.

No, I can't sleep in a noisy environment either, it has to be very quiet for me to sleep. We have neighbors whose dogs bark all night, and it drives me crazy because thats all I can hear when I'm trying to sleep. We wonder how in the world can they sleep, they must not hear them. They live a mile from us and we can hear them..haha.

Well it depends on the volume and pitch. If it is constant , like switching on the radio and in the same volume, i can still continue to sleep. But i doubt i can sleep if they are teenager suddenly scream , giggling , jump up and down. these teenagers should be teach a lesson not to made noisy if there are people sleeping nearby. My camping days there are disipline have to light out and sleep after midnight. Because it is dangerous to wander around after midnight , if they are naught , next camp session they will ban. They can go themselves next time , and get kidnap rape eaten alive butchered abducted by alien and such and it will not be our concern.ahaha.

Oh!! I agree with you. Teen agers are noisy all the time giggling and shouting even at midnight. I think the parents are responsible to keep these teens away from the public places or even in residential places at night time. They are a disturbance and besides it is dangerous to roam around at night.

I'm pretty sure those teenagers are just acting their age. They are away from home with other friends and for them, what could be better?
When I'm tired, I'm tired! I don't care who's around making noise, I will sleep, and sleep like a rock I must say. I've always been that way since I was a teen.
Take care

if you are really sleepy, you could sleep in any environment. You are disturbed then because you thought that you could have the power to control the situation. But you would have slept freely in a bus or train where there were strangers. We can expect the environment to our desire only at home.

well when i am really very tired and sleepy, that's when people around me get too restless or don't want to switch off the lights!! lol :) am not a very sound sleeper. if someone is talking around in the same room or if anyone switches off the fan or something, i'l get up within 5 mins!! it is really very irritating to get up that way! :(

i cannot, for the life of me, sleep when my surroundings are noisy. sometimes even the littlest of noise keeps me awake. there are exceptions though, like the sound of a fan or the aircon. but noisy people, vehicles, construction, etc... i simply cannot.
cheers and happy myLotting!

I consider myself the most peaky sleeper in the world. I can not stand any noise what so ever. The sound of a mosquito buzzing will keep me up the entire night. i cannot sleep when there is someone close by who snores....I am usually forced to wake them up or turn there heads so that they can stop snoring...i know this sounds cruel but if i am to get some sleep, i have to do all this. i just hope my future wife is the most silent of sleepers.....

Normally I can't, but if I'm really very tired, nothing can stop me from falling asleep -- not even loud music.

For years I had been living a nocturnal life because of work. I slept during the day from morning to noon. Sometimes I had problem to sleep because of the noises my neighbors made. I lived in an apartment, so when someone knock the wall or something like that, it would interfere with my sleep. But I can't blame them though. I actually have a very sensitive sense, even a slightest sound could wake me up. So it can be really troublesome. If I really tired, I could sleep in a very noisy environment, but not all times.

I cant sleep in a totally silent room, I like to have the TV or radio on with the volume turned down very low. My pet hate is sleeping in a room with a ticking clock, it's like chinese torture to me. I'm not a great sleeper, even when I am tired , it still take me time to nod off, and then I still awaken through the night several times.
Some people are sound sleepers and some are not.

No Bebs, I am very sensitive to noise. I want all my surroundings peaceful and quiet when I go to sleep. This it the reason why I could not sleep just anywhere, people talking around keeps me awake. I wonder why there are some people who can fall asleep in an instant just about anywhere they lie.
