Robin Hood - The new gladiator?

I watched the new Robin Hood movie with Russell Crowe and I'm very, very impressed. I went with almost no expectations and maybe this helped for my positive reaction to the movie but a man hardly can say that the movie is not a masterpiece. Firstly the cast is just perfect. Crowe and Blanchett are so cute together. They have that aristocratic behavior and very good sense of humor that really helps to make one of the best couples on the screen that I've seen lately. Second I definitely have to mention the directing and the script. It's not the typical Robin Hood story and during the movie I permanently was like "Wow that was unexpected! What will happen now??!!??!" And in third place I am so glad that they kinda left the door for a second movie widely (well maybe not so much) open. I will be very happy to see a sequel after three or four years.
So did you watch the movie and what do you think? Strengths, weaknesses?

I also surprised that I enjoy this movie a lot! At first I don't know where did Ridley Scott gonna take this movie since it's very different from the one I used to know. I don't know if this story actually is the legend or the prequel of the famous Robin Hood that we know, or they just made them up. Anyway, i love the fight scenes and the complication of the story.

I haven't seen the movie myself, but from what I've heard people seem to be polarized about this one.
A lot of people think Robin Hood is a story that's been told too many times- me being one of them. I like to think of Robin Hood as a jolly, quirky guy in green tights, not some hardcore medieval fighter. w
