My theory on this is that the next day would be Monday. Mondays are generally the first day of work so the cable channels both local or international have the sense to discourage viewers to stay up late on a Sunday. So they air those reruns or something that is not that interesting so that the viewers would just fall asleep or would opt to just sleep and not watch television anymore.
It may be a farfetched idea but still is an idea.LOL That's just what I think anyways.^_^

'discourage viewers from staying up late' , well thats a very good theory, but, on the other hand they should know they have a captive audience as no-one wants to go out on a sunday, and do anything that may tire them out before the monday ie. start of a new week.
Who knows, oh well.
Have fun.

Here in the Philippines, it's a different story. Networks spice up the Sunday viewing with a combination of:
Musical variety shows, youth oriented dramas and showbiz talk shows on Sunday afternoons (12:00-6:00 pm)
News, magazine shows, talk shows, reality talent programs, sitcoms, and movie blocks (TV specials) on Sunday evenings (6:00-12:00 mn).
But of course, most people would go to the malls or out of town trips during Sundays that's the reason why despite the good Sunday lineup Philippine TV has, the ratings are lower.

Maybe the TV schedulers have a contract with the employers. They won't put anything good on Sunday night so everyone will be so bored at home that they'll love to go in to work on Monday morning.
I've noticed that there are times (especially Sunday) when nothing good is on. That's the time to pull out all the old DVD's and watch a movie I haven't watched in awhile. I almost always do other things while watching TV so it's not an especially big deal to me, sometimes all it does is provide background noise. Sometimes, I just turn it off if nothing good is on and go do something else.
Every once in a while, I turn off the TV, even if there is something good on, and pull out the old vinyl records and have a nostalgic night, beebopping around (as best I can) and singing along. That drives my dogs crazy but I don't care. I'm having FUN!

No, I'm all American. Our language, which I call "American" instead of "English", is a jumble of phrases and words from all over the world but mostly Europe and South America.
You know, the spade was one thing I DIDN'T use today. I used all kinds of other gardening implements but not the spade. Maybe I should have because, as I was gathering strawberries from my ever-enlarging strawberry patch, I noticed a lot of little weeds trying to become big weeds but was too tired to do anything about them. Maybe tomorrow I'll get the spade out (or use 'The Spade') and have a go at those weeds. We're in the middle of our 3-day Memorial Day weekend here and most people have off work tomorrow, including my husband so, if I can get him up off his lazy derriere (see, that's French!), maybe I can pull a Tom Sawyer on him and convince him to help me outside since it's sooooooooooooooo much fun.
I can tell you one thing, the Spade (a.k.a. 'Force') would have been quite helpful out there today because the temp went up to 94F which too hot for anyone. Still, those strawberries were sooooo yummy!!!

Oops, I forgot to mention that today (Sunday) is AWESOME for TV viewing. One channel is showing all six Star Wars movies and they're in sequence! Sometimes they show movies like this where they play the third one first, then the second, etc. but today they're all in the right order. The problem is, it's just after 6 p.m. right now (at least here it is) and they're only on the third movie, with three more to go. These will be going on into the wee hours of the morning but I won't be able to stay awake to watch them all. Oh, sure, I have them on DVD but, well, they're on TV! I don't have to get up and change DVD's when one movie ends. Guess that shows how lazy I can be sometimes. LOL
In my defense over the lazy comment, though, I did do a LOT of yard work earlier. I cut about 1 1/2 acres of grass plus I pulled a LOT of weeds and did a lot of trimming. The plan was to set up a raised garden bed but I ran out of energy long before that happened. Oh, well, at least there's Star Wars on!

Yeah sundays do seem a bit dull when it comes to TV programming but it helps to have cable because with cable there's more channels and a bigger possibility that they'll be something good to watch.
It also helps to build your DVD collection that way if there's nothing on TV you can just pop in your favorite DVD that reminds me I need to add a few more DVDs to my collection lol.

I have satellite tv also but it only means I spend more time flicking through the channels watching bits of programmes. I never see a programme from start to finish.
If I do find anything good, it's probably nearly finished.
Oh I hate sunday nights, does it show. (No pun intended)

Of course there are no good thing on sunday night tv. Cause you were expected to be out of the house, or doing something other than watching tv that you use to do every day. It's good for refreshing your brain.

There's only so long you can stay out of the house, even at the weekend. And what happens if the weather is bad or you are feeling poorly, your stuck in the house with rubbish tv. Not good at all.
Saying that it just shows I lack imagination if all I ca think about doing at home is sitting glued to the television set.

When I said "you" it means I referred to general people, like me, you, us. You know that a discussion aren't meant for just "two" people. So I was just saying that for "us" TV lovers, not just you. I'm a computer nerd myself, so I know that feeling.
About bad weather, you can always watch DVD...peace..

on the contrary (based on my personal preferences) our local TV shows are more exciting on Friday even on late nights (i love to watch old blockbuster movies)..
to answer your question;
Sunday programs are somewhat tailored to less popular TV shows, because Sundays to some is a family day (wherein they regularly go out)..so less people in the house means less people tuning in to TV. On late nights Monday is a new day, a lot go to to bed early to start a new day..

I really don't know.
Awhile back game shows was on Saturdays and Sunday would be an easy watching day, with many shows that you could put on watch. Used to be quite a lot of sport shows on sunday but now there's nothing of real quality. I personally wished that television companies would focus on bringing new shows that would bring back tradition for these days as their the only days that most families are able to spend time together.

There is nothing good in our television program during Sunday too. We shift channels to cable and there is still nothing to watch with quality shows. Some of the movies are keep repeating and I am uninterested to watch it. If this is the scenario I will choose to sleep and relax or read a book or play with my pets than to waste time on it.

I never understood why they dont put anything good on SUnday and if you notice not much on Weds either they tend to put 3 or 4 on the same time the rest of the nights and you cant seem to watch every one you would like to see.
They could put some on SUnday night for sure!

I guess because the television administer people assume that Sunday is the day where people are preparing for the new week to go back to school and work and would have little time for T.V. (especially late night T.V.) To make it up, there are many good shows on Saturdays and Fridays. I guess it just works like that and we'll have to accept it.

Hi Hadz,
Well, maybe you can pull out one of your favorite movies and watch it again than be stressed out of looking for a good program to watch on. It’s really frustrating but we can always make some innovations out of the remaining time of our off to be up again for a new week’s challenges. Cheers my dear friend!

Bad TV programs on Sundays may be a global disease. And still I can find some good programs to watch, not especially a movie. I can relax with documentary films about animals or anything interesting or scientific. But if you want movies and have a DVD player, you can choose. Also there are countries where the TV operators offer special movie programs on an extra payment.

Hello!
Yes, I can agree with you, Sundays is very boring days. On Sundays mornings I and my family travel to some city. We relax, take new photographies. When we come back to home. My mom make diner, sometimes I help to my mom. I checkout my email, do a homeworks. When comes evening, we watch TV. But, Yes on Sundays, there is nothing to watch. Sometimes we watch concerts with nationality artists. Good movies sometimes is on night about 02:00 AM, but I usually sleep at that time. Because, Mondays is hard working days, and people usually isn't smiley like others days!
