Were you shocked as a youngster, to find out that Santa Claus was not who you thought he was? Did you accept it as, so what, or did you feel very disappointed with the revelation? Was that one of your worst disappointments as a child? Share your thoughts.

dear artistry,
i was around 12 years old when i learned that santa claus was not true. but since my parents continued giving gifts it didnt matter so much.
the only thing that was stopped were the candies in socks on the windows. well, it suit me right, i was getting toothache due to sweets.
have a nice day.

....Hi there Tigeraunt, That's cute, too much candy. I think we all decided as youngsters that once we knew that there was no fat man in a red suit with a beard coming down the chimney that the gifts were what we really looked forward to. As long as we were getting our bicycles as my sister and I did one Christmas, we were happy. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Take care.

I studied in an English medium convent school run by Catholic Jesuit fathers. When we were studying in the primary section Santa was a big thing for us even though we were not all of us Christians. In fact most of us were Hindus but yet we enjoyed Xmas. But as i grew older Santa dropped off from my radar completely since i got involved in my own religion and its festivities.Xmas was only then a holiday for me and nothing else and Santa just someone who belonged to my childhood. So it did not matter to me whether he existed or not.

...Hi vj, Hope you are doing well and having good weather to enjoy. You always have the most interesting things to relate in discussions. Am I to understand that there was a holiday in honor of Christmas there? That is interesting in itself. Little children love gifts, their eyes light up and laughter erupts, it's a happy time. Thanks for stopping by, take good care.

not really, as my parents don't talk about santa claus much.I only learned it from school and other children, eventually telling me that their parents are the real santa cluas..

...Hi grayxenon, So you were not as caught up in it as some children might have been and thus spared any particular disappointment. It also seems that the children around you were very aware of what was going on with Santa and the gifts showing up for them. How smart they were. I can't even remember when I knew what was going on, I also don't know if I ever really believed in Santa Claus, but I may be giving myself too much credit. Thanks for your reply, take it easy.

when i was younger, i also firmly believed that there is a santa claus. i can even remember that i used to sneak on the eve of christmas day, waiting for santa claus so i can see him with my own eyes. but i never saw him. when i grew older, i was saddened when i learned that there is really no 'bearded man in red, carrying a sack of gifts' that will give children presents on christmas. but still, we hang socks on our windows because we'll found out that grandma is filling them. she's our santa claus! :)

....Hi chang, I think that all of us as little children believed in the myth that there was a man with a white beard and reindeer because it was a fun thing. He was bringing gifts to all good children and so we kept looking for him each year. When we found out we were disappointed but at least our young hearts were happy though we were
caught up in the myth. But isn't that what childhood is all about, toothfairies, bunny rabbits with eggs, unicorns and Santa Claus. Mystical fun time it was. Grandmoms are great "o). Take care

I didn't really care. As long as the gifts kept on coming. :)

...Hi frontvisions, You gave me my lol moment of the morning. Thanks, that was funny. I think most kids were thinking as you were. Don't stop the party just because the fat guy won't be here, keep the music playing "o). I think that was the story with me and my three sisters. We were happy when our parents came back from shoppping with many packages around that time. Thanks for your response and take care.
