Have you ever Rag Rolled your hair?

I was reading a few things on old hairstyles and came across a article on how teenagers in the 50's used to rag roll their hair. Now I've braided my hair to get waves, or put it in a couple small buns before I went to bed to get some waves,... but honestly I've never tried it or thought about rag rolling. Have you tried it?

oh my, actually rag rolling was a very old fashioned thing to do, even in the 1950's. No, never did it myself, my mom would put those nasty brush rollers in don't even bother, I put my hair up and that's where it stays!

I did it in the seventies I think. I cannot remember for sure. Anything strange, I will try it. Now to get curls all I do is let my hair air dry. It gets really curly in the summer. I also used sponge rollers for a long time.

I have had that done. My mom and grandma did it to my hair a couple times when I was a kid. I have thick hair and so does my mom. It doesn't curl easily and when my mom was a kid she found that using rags worked well for her thick hair, so her and my grandma did it to mine. I think it's kind of a pain the butt to do. It takes a while and some of the rags got tangled in my hair, if I remember correctly (it's probably been 20 years since I had it done last when I was like 7 or so).

I've never rag rolled my hair. Like you I've done the braids to get waves in my hair and I've also done buns before when I was younger. However, the majority of the time, I did foam rollers because those seemed to be much more effective than either of the previous two options. My hair is bone straight so it will not hold a lot of things. I do, however, like it when I am able to maintain some body in my hair through the duration of a day.

hi 3snugglebunnies oh yes I tried it and it looked and felt awful so did not do that again. I instead made pin curls and that worked fine as it made my hair semi curly and that was okay. My hair is not very curly mostly stright with some waves courtesy of totally twisted shampoo and conditioner by Herbal essences from Clairoil company . I have used these for years and am totally satisfied with the look and the w aves.
