Hi there mylotters. I am just curious if parents always have a favorite child? if so, why? for parents, why would you like one compared to the other?.. for children, what do you feel when your parent/s like the other sibling than you?

although most parents will deny this, there is always a favorite child for them. I dont think the feeling is conscious, but just part of human nature...people have always had favorites of everything from cars, clothes, jewelry, friends.....why not children. the challenge for any parent is to try and treat all their children the same because if the secret is discovered that one is favored, all hell will break loose in that household.

Agreed. Of coursed parents have favorite kids as kids have favorite parents. What is important to remember is that love and favoritism are different. Hopefully, all parents love their children equally; that does not preclude having a favorite. The real challenge for parents is to NOT indulge the favorite child and to hold that child accountable to the same rules as other children are held to.
