The answer to your first question is simple. You need a data plan or a wi-fi connection to use the internet on your phone. Otherwise it will not work. Cell phone providers usually offer data packages that would incress your bill so much a month for unlimited web on the device. Other then that, you're screwed. Second of all, if a contact is on your sim card, then you should be able to access it easily enough and connect regurally with no trouble. If you cannot, check the user guide that came with the phone. If the answer is not there contact your cell phone provider. The phone should still be under warnty if you've gotten it within one year.

If your phone can connect through wifi then the only way you can get free internet is to find an area or establishment or restaurant or cafe, etc that offers free wifi. Regarding your other problem I really have no idea. Sorry.

In order to connect to the internet, it is like the last user said, that you must have a data plan. I have a smartphone, so the data plan is automatic. I don't mind though as I can go on the internet on my phone whenever I choose to. While I am home though, I use my computer, as it is so much easier, and the screen is much bigger. Im not really sure on the blackberry phone but most of the new phones now can connect to the internet through WiFi, by internet routers.
