What is the one thing that you have to grab a steel rod and prop up your backbone to do?
I have cleaned open chest and groin wounds, beds where the person didn't make it to the potty, flushed multiple I.V. lines, pushed almost dead arms and legs to react, and have the nickname of "Almnurse" which means almost a nurse. But when it comes to cutting fingernails, I absolutely have to pull every bit of strength I have to do it without my hands shaking!
I think my problem came in high school in Home Economics. I had lovely natural nails, all the same length. Our teacher paired us with another student to give each other manicures. The partner I got had nails she had bitten halfway down the nail. She decided mine should be the same and ground one hand down past the quick! I refused to give her my other hand and got an Incomplete for not cooperating. She got an A for her destruction of my hand!
What is your nemesis? What makes you cring that anyone else would do without thinking about it? What made you hate doing that one thing so much?

Not a lot makes me cringe, but I don't like going into public showers or the showers they have at the camp I used to go to without wearing something on my feet. I've had to do it a few times when I've forgotten my flip-flops, but it freaked me out. Those things get so germ-ridden. Foot fungi can get picked up in those, and it grosses me out that people are cool with hopping in a public shower without anything on their feet. The ones we had at camp were especially disgusting. I hated cleaning them, especially as a counselor. The kids would leave them a mess, and they were never that sanitary to begin with. It probably seems silly to dislike something like that, but it just makes me shudder a bit.

I'm with you. Living in Florida for ten years, I learned very quickly to wear swim shoes in the showers, too.
