The typical thing i do when modeling with clothes is i model the whole character along with the clothes. I'm just curious, what 3d softwares are you using?

i'm using poser for the body. and then for the face, i use facegen. i found some softwares that can make clothes easier but they model it around their default model. you can export some famous models though, but i was using a different model. it mes me confuse because sometimes when you export, the materials doesn't go along with it. and i cannot make a body or clothes from scratch.

Oh. So you just attach the face to the body? That's another method, i guess. What file type do you export it with?

yes. i made it in poser. i saw a tutorial for that once. just remove the head and attach the facegen head. obj. but i really haven't made a complete character because i got stuck with the clothes and i can't import the head anymore when i make the hair in cinema4d. i dont know how does the hair in poser works. what do you use?

you can do it on Photoshop. but it will take a lot of work doing all the details to make it look the 3d quality you want. but it can be done.
