Be careful with either one. Over the counter whitening strips have a much lower pH (they are more acidic) than in office whitening that your dentist can provide. These products have to be more acidic so they can stay fresh and last long enough to be stocked on store shelves.
As you know, exposing your tooth enamel to an acidic product will demineralilze it. This is bad. If you insist on using the bleaching strips, refrain from brushing your teeth immediately after use. Most toothpastes contain micro abrasives that are designed to clean healthy teeth, but can damage enamel that has just been softened by an acid.

As said above, the strips can harm the enamel on your teeth. I used them once and they were great but I wouldn't make a habit of it.
