An HIV-positive woman was forced to give birth to her baby by the roadside after a government-run hospital allegedly refused her admission.
According to delayed reports reaching the state capital, some women in the town helped deliver the baby after the pregnant woman collapsed by the roadside.
Wife of a daily wage labourer from Kesaram village in Nalgonda, reached the Government Area Hospital in Suryapet. After the blood examination, she was found HIV-positive and the staff on duty allegedly refused her admission saying the doctors were not available.
I am shocked by this incident, What is this happening?
I hope hospital officials will be punished for this silly crime.

This is appalling. You would think that of all people, hospital staff, would know how to take universal precautions and therefore would not be afraid. This poor, poor, woman. And you know, there are things that the doctors can do at delivery to help insure that the baby won't contract HIV. They should be severely punished. Do they admit people who have the flu? It is MUCH easier to contract the flu than it is to contract HIV.

I believe that FLU is dangerous in order to pass it on to the next person but people has created a tendency in mind about HIV and that is causing all this.
Thanks for the response.

I heard of people who avoid any kinda interactions with AIDS patients as they aren't fully aware that it isn't a contagious disease until you use those some specific items related to them....never thought doctors could do this too.the woman could have rushed much earlier than to face this humiliation at the very last moment.

Yes if a common man act in this way, may be that he is not well aware about HIV but Doctors are supposed to be helping hand in this scenario.
Thanks for the response.

That is shameful for what happened to this lady and child. The child could have taken by c-section and may have never contracted HIV if it handled correctly. I am sure there will be officials fired for this inhumane act. So sad.
