Next weekend my husband, two of our friends and I are going to visit a Danish island called Barsoe. It is a small island, and we not going bring our car. We plan on walking around, and I hope that we will be able to visit most parts of the island in a couple of hours. Neither of us have been there before, and I look forward to exploring the island. Have you visited a lot of different islands? Do you prefer small islands or big islands? On the big islands there are usually more to see, more places to visit etc, but the small islands are more peaceful, and I like both.

I hope that you will have a really lovely time on the Danish island. One of the destinations I love most are tropical islands. In my lifetime I have visited quite a few islands in the sun. I went to Caye Caulker in 2006. It is an island in Belize. I liked seeing its colorful houses, gently waving palm trees and white sandy beaches. It was excellent to go snorkeling in the surrounding area. In 2005 I visited the Maldives and went on stay on three different islands. I enjoyed being on the tinny little island that I could easily walk around in ten minutes. Back in 2004 I was lucky enough to visit the Seychelles. I stayed on three different islands and loved it on La Digue Island. There were bikes for people to get around on. It was a dream like paradise with stunning looking beaches. Wow! In 2001 and 2002 I went to many different islands: two in French Polynesia, one in the Cook Islands, two in New Zealand and three in Samoa. I had the most excellent time imaginable on that fantastic trip. I prefer small islands to bigger islands when I wish to relax. If I wish to go on some adventures a bigger island is better for me. I like walking around, cycling if I can hire a bike and snorkeling in the sea to see the coral reefs. My favorite islands are: 1. Namua Island, Samoa in the South Pacific Sea 2. La Digue Island, the Seychelles in the Indian Ocean 3. Caye Caulker, Belize in Central America 4. Kangaroo Island, South Australia 5. Gozo Island, part of Malta in Europe

It sounds like you have been to a lot of beautiful and interesting places. I also think that it is nice to relax on the small islands. Some of them are very beautiful and peaceful. My husband and I spent out honeymoon in the eastern part of Denmark and one day we visited a small island called Nekseloe. It was a really nice place, we walked around on the island for a couple of hours and it was very peaceful. The big islands are also interesting, and there are usually more things to see and do if it is a big island.

I live in Croatia, Croatia has arround 1300 islands, islets and riffs, I did visit most of big ones, but of course not all, said this, I seen differnt other islands accross Europe. I do like islands, as often people living on islands is friendly and they often have a bit differnt ways of being close to their neighbourghs

I didn't know that there were so many islands in Croatia. Two of my friends are going to Croatia this summer, but I haven't been there myself. I hope to get the chance to visit Croatia one day. On some of the Danish islands there live around 30 or 40 people, and it is a different kind of society, because everyone knows eachother. Like you say they are close to their neighbours in another way, and it must be very different from life in a big city.

I have visited many Danish islands. We have more than 400 islands, and I have visited Laesoe, Samsoe, Endelave, Hjarnoe, Alroe, Fanoe, Roemoe, Mandoe, Drejoe, Bjornoe, Baagoe, Taasinge, Langeland, Thuroe, Aeroe, Nekseloe, Bornholm etc. Some of those places I have visited with my parents when I was a child and some of them I have visited with my friends or with my husband. I don't really have a favourite island, and I think that they have all been interesting.

I've never been any islands, but I think it should be wonderful to have a trip on an island. But i prefer living on land better. I could be worry about my safty if i lived on an island all the time. Typhoon, tsunami, these things are terrible...

I honestly haven't been on TOO many islands, well, if you count the barrier islands off the coast of the U.S., then well, yeah, but those are connected by bridges to the main land. I think the only time I was on an island that wasn't was the island of Vancouver in Canada, and England, if you want to count that... I guess with the Chunnel you could even say that England is now connected to the main land of Europe...

I have never been in an island so far but this year for summer I am planning to go to Mauritius, an island situation in the Indian Ocean, I wish to go there with my boyfriend this time to relax a bit and enjoy too. I will try to make a week there or maybe more than that if I find the island very good.

Hi Porcospino, i learned to appreciate and love islands when i was assigned one of the islands in our province for my one semester fieldwork when i was in my third year college. i had a great experience with the fisher folks and enjoyed the place, the people and of course the simple that they have there. i too love the fresh fish. every morning i have a supply of seafoods and fruits from the community. they really took care of me. if ever i will be given the chance to go there and visit them i will. i love small island--intimate!

If you categorise Australia and New Zealand as Islands then I have been to both these places and enjoyed every moment there. But what is it that one finds in an island that you do not find elsewhere is still a question that I want to ask.

I have went to the small islands on the Taihu lake before. It far from the mainland, and in the past when there is no bridge the people on the islands seldom went outside and though there are lots of fruit they cannot sell them for money. Now there has built Great Taihu Lake Bridge, and either we can visit the islands and enjoy clibming mountains and picking fruits and eating the native vegetables very much. It's a wonderful place and I like it very much.

I love islands and have been to quite a few of them. I visited the Andaman and Nicober Islands quiet a few times and I am really pleased to see its beautiful beaches, with either white or golden sands, coconut trees and blue water rich in corals and other wildlife.I had seen dolphins for the first time in wild... It is in India. My friends say that you can go "Island hopping" because there are so many islands around and you can take a public ferry to visit the island where people are there.
