I visited Hong Kong and really liked it there. In July it will be quite hot. I enjoyed riding on one of the old trams, seeing the harbor and shopping for a costume doll. I suggest you go to see one of the beIaches on one of the outer laying islands. I think you will be able to try eating in one of the local eating establishments. I hope that you will have an excellent time.

O, gee, I didn't know it would be hot in July. I'd like to see some beach, too, it having 3 major islands. old trams, check, harbor, check and shopping for costume doll, check. I'm so excited! 29 days and counting! Thanks for the insight...

Hi, my kids, hubby and I are taking a trip to Hong Kong a few days from now. Kids are already loosing sleep because they are very excited to see Disneyland. I have been to Hong Kong twice already, so this is going to be my third time. EVerytime I go there, there is always something new. Hong Kong keeps on evolving so you will not really get bored by the place if you keep coming back. I especially loved the Victoria Peak.Going there is now very convenient because of the tram that goes up and down. It has always been my dream to bring my kids there, and now it's finally coming true. We will go see the world one step at a time. Cheers!

Hi, yeah we sure did! This Ngong Ping is a great place where you can see a giant Buddha. There's a quiant little village too that reminds me of Whistler in Bristish Columbia. And the Peak! It has splendid view of Hong Kong at night. Plus numerous shops and restaurants.

Right! It's like one huge shopping mecca! Indeed, the view at the Peak is spectacular. Yes, I think I saw the village that you were talking about. What surprised me was the trip back to Central because the route was the "countryside" part of HK. Something I was not totally expecting, but beautiful. I wish I could go back soon.

Right! One step at a time. You are right again about HK evolving a lot. There's always a reason to go back! Hope you have a wonderful time there with your husband and kids!

Hi, Gloryacam.
I just came back from HK and Macau with my friends. That'a a wonderful trip. We went to Disneyland, Victoria Harbour and the Avenue of Stars. It is really very great. The level of consumption is truly a little high, while it is still in our control. Hope you will have a nice journey. You may have a glance of Macau, it is very convenient from HK to there.
Happy mylotting!

Hi Candymin! Yes, I heard it would be easy to visit Macau. I'll have to check with my friends about our schedule. And we'll try to squeeze in all these places you've all mentioned.
Happy lotting to you, too!

hi! congrats on your planned travel to HK! You'll definitely enjoy the place! I went there a couple of times already, and though the place is small, i dont mind going to back to experience the fun and the shopping! i really loved ocean park. i forgot the places we go to but mostly these are shopping centers and strips. Go to the Victoria Peak and walk some more to reach the big statue of Buddha. Check out the jewelry manufacturer's showrooms too. Ride the boat tour as well. Central too is a nice area - shopping!. Night markets in Temple St are ok too and there are a lot of authentic HK food in the side streets. I forgot the name of the area, Harbor Place/City perhaps? but it's where you see the Avenue of the Stars, HK Space Museum, HK Cultural Center, and HK Museum of Art. there's a lot of shopping malls too in that side of Hk as well.
take care and enjoy your travel!

Wow! Thanks! I'm excited already. Hmmm...Really need to start on the IT to fit in all of your suggestions. All these places in one island? Or do I have to visit separate islands. Thanks a lot for the help. Er, is the night market safe? Thanks again

these are in two places though. you have to either cross via land (tunnel) or via the ferry. i did both hehehe. the night market is safe i guess, i never had any unpleasant experiences there. you'd really find a lot of knick knacks there. exercise your bargaining powers! haha!

thanks...errr, is the street food safe to eat? because the most common problem of travellers is diarrhea so it would be a damper to be having a bad stomach during holiday. thanks!

Wow, that sounds really fun! I always love Hong Kong
You can visit 'Avenue of Star' and visit the Peak. At the top of
the Peak, you may want to see all the superstars like Angelina Jolie,
and shake hand with British Royalty at Madam Tussaud's Wax Museum.
There is an ongoing spectacular music & laser light performance along
Avenue of Star at Tsim Tsa Sui every evening (maybe 7-8pm) daily. You
may check the Hong Kong tourism website :) Have a great holiday!

I have been to Hongkong many times, not the desirable place to travel. Everything is so expensive. I would suggest you, if you already book the ticket to Hongkong, why not go in to mainland China, to see better stuff there. At least, things are cheaper in China than in HongKong.

Oh, sad to hear that. We considered a side trip to China, but we would lack time so my friends and I decided we'll save that for another trip. I guess commercialism has gotten to HK being that it is a shopping destination in Asia. Thanks, anyway, at least now I now I should be bringing more $... Good day to you!
