What do you think of people who find their significant others from a dating site

Hello, this is an interesting question that I like to post. And given this, I would also like to share my story. A few years ago, I joined a dating site for the purpose of fun and satisfying my curiosity. I heard that people finding lovers thru the net was on the rise! I honestly thought that things like these are for the hopeless desperadoes. Out of pure sheer fun I decided to join. Whatever u may call it...fate, karma, or destiny is up to you. I met a lot of losers but there was one who totally stood out and was really fun to talk to. Before I knew it, I was in love. His name was "J" (initials) and he was from the US army serving in Iraq. He was sweet, funny, and amazing and it helped that we are both young!! I heard a story once that my mother told me that women in my family ended up falling in love with the man they supposedly hate- In my case----American, Soldier, Tall, Caucasian, and divorced at 23! "J" was a quadruple yikes!! Time passed and he visited me in the Philippines and we realized that we really do care about each other. Although we still communicate and the wedding bells are long echoes away, I know that we will always be friends. So now, I know that people have impressions as to these kinds of things so I want to know your opinion whether positive or otherwise. I am very open to discussions. Some say mine was rare. Coz normally Old men and young women are the ones who meet thru the site and fall in love so calledly. But in our case, me and J are both young. He's now 24 and i'm now turning 23. So come on please feel free to post ur opinions.
