I have always invoked the line "Patriotism is in the heart" whenever social conversations dwell on subjects such as migration, travel, politics, nationalism, etcetera. How much do I love my country? With all my heart.
What about you? How much do you love your country?

rather difficult to answer it, a sense of patriotism is only visible when there is action taken. However, it does not mean we can not do it. Patriotism is most easily done is preaching the good condition from your country to the whole world. That's what I'm doing right now

Yeah, why focus so much on the bad things, that's one of things i hate the media about, always the bad news and never the good news. we have good news but it's not spread and it's more of a boring story to media and others.good thing you are spreading it to the world or your community.

I love my country very much. I've been offered several job opportunities to work or live abroad but still I chose to stay. A lot of people who left the country and work abroad told me that staying will never give you a decent living, well i think they are wrong. There are still a lot of opportunities awaiting here and I truly want to contribute something in my country but not to the extent that I need to work outside the country.

I too had several opportunities abroad, unfortunately, no matter how god you are, you will still be considered second class citizens. After a 9-month stay abroad looking for better opportunities for me and my family, we went back home. Now I came to appreciate more the things which I have been taking for granted before... smiling people in the streets, the old reliable neighborhood "sari-sari" store, the MRT, friends, family and a lot more. Yes, it is not true that staying in the country will not give us decent living. There are opportunities. One only has to look and listen.

I don't even love my country. I always think of migrating to another country and working out for it to get certain pass to work and doing business at the country I wish to be at legally. By the way, I am not rushing for it.
Reasons why I don't like my country? It's secret due to I don't want to get caught by stating the reasons.

Considering the many misadventures my country men had related about the experiences in your country, I think I have an idea as to why you are raring for an exit. Do be careful.

It is very easy for someone to say that he loves his country with all his heart and with all his soul. But the more important question is "How do you show your love for your country?" I think that is basically everyone of us should be answering. I have practically lived all my life here in the Philippines although I had a few short trips abroad. I cannot help but compare the simple things people from countries I have visited do in showing not only their love but their respect as well to their country and countrymen. Those little things are very basic, using pedestrain lanes in crossing the street, throwing your trash in rubbish bins, stopping to let someone cross the street in a pedestrian lane, staying in line and waiting for your turn, following traffic rules, greeting ssomeone you meet, etc. There are so much more one could add to this list. Fortunately for us, I think the country's new president is in that same level of thinking.
I once read a book ( I forgot the exact title)about everything we need to know in life, we learned in kindergarten. True. We learned to socialize, we learned to be considerate of others,we learned to tidy up our mess after we played, we learned to share, and we learned to love. I think it is time for us to open our kindergarten books again and start going back to the basics.

Hello Eileen,
Well, it's easy to love the country when ones person has yet to experience the benefits of experiencing the best of greenies pastures of other countries.
I do Love my country as well, but sometimes these things happened very horribly like corruption, deception, and unknown transactions, you can't keep wondering why people live abroad.

Hiya eileen,
England well Great Britain even though I cannot afford to back and forth to it because I live here is ever present in my life. I have never once forgotten Great Britain. This silly name or mote they put on me ex-pat does not belong to me because Great Britain is my passion, my life it always will be in spite of everything Great Britain will always be and is my Country. I was born there just because I live here does not mean to say I have chosen to forget it far from it.
I come from a part they call the Black Country in the Midlands in the Heart of Great Britain. It was the heart centre of industry once but it is still my Home and I never forget it ever. I love Great Britain very much and miss it a lot sometimes.
I love Spain but it will never replace Great Britain.

I love my country with all my heart and soul. Also with all my stomach and rib cage and esophagus. Throw in the small and large intestines too. I wanna include my scrotum but i figured it'll be disgusting.

I love my country very much! As a public servant, I attend the flag ceremony every Monday. At the end of it all, we sing the "Pilipinas Kong Mahal" (My Beloved Philippines. I think it is the sweetest song :)
Ang bayan ko'y tanging ikaw (You are my only nation)
Pilipinas kong mahal (My beloved Philippines)
Ang puso ko at buhay man (My heart and my life)
Sa iyo'y ibibigay (For you I'll freely give)
Tungkulin kong gagampanan (My duties I will do)
Na lagi kang paglingkuran (To serve you always)
Ang laya mo'y babantayan (Your freedom I will guard)
Pilipinas kong hirang (Philippines, my love)

Not much at all I am afraid. It is no longer the 'lucky country' that it used to be. Home ownership, that used to be an icon, is now a very difficult proposition making it harder and harder for young people to get into a house. Those that do have a house have found that it has risen to a high level of value with inflation but now they cannot afford to pay the taxes which are based on the value. The option is to rent which has become unaffordable taking a huge percentage of weekly income. Sure, we have welfare payments here if you have no work but they are not enough to pay the rent let alone eat. The cost of living now for families is so high that both parents have to work full time just to cover mortgage costs leaving the kids to be brought up by child care centers. There is no public transport outside city areas so one has to drive a car which is very expensive with fuel, upkeep and taxes and compulsory insurances. There is continued unrest in the native population as they demand more and more free land and refuse to work demanding welfare payments and free housing. A large immigration program over the years has now turned us into a multicultural country with huge groups of migrants positioned in cities creating conflict between rival gangs. There is no future to look forward to here as you get older because there is no extended family and you end up in a nursing home and left to die. What is there to love about it. This is Australia.

I really and truly love my country with a passion because it is the land of my birth, it holds my history and my culture, my family and my friends. Together they are what nuture me into this unique individual that i am. My country is my pride, my virtue and my home.Despite the obstacles that stands in her way on a daily basis (crime and violence), she still holds a great beauty and an enormous amount of our history and culture within her! My sweet island Jamaica!!!!!!!!
