Is is a saying that it's better to give than to receive but what if you have given more than enough and have nothing to receive. Don't you think there should be a balance???

Don't you like the feeling that someone out there owes you? just kidding. But I understand what you're saying. I am a giver more than a reciever. I just hate the feeling that I owe someone something.
It'll be great if there was a balance. But why would you want to live life trying to keep track of who owes you and you owing who? Maybe you knew this person in the before life (sorry if you don't believe this) and they owed you in that lifetime? Now in this life, all they do is give and you recieve? That's how I view it without driving me nuts. That's a balance, isn't it? lol.

We often say that we should not expect something in return when we give however is it completely true because when we are in a relationship we do expect something in return such as affection and love so similarly here when we give something don't we expect a little in return so as to receive it. There should be a balance though

I guess you could argue that yes, and it is a statement that I have heard a lot over the years. For me personally though, I am very much a giver in everything, and I don't get half as much back in return, so it has never really worried me too much, even though yeah of course it would be nice. I don't know about a balance though I guess that would depend on in what form you are talking about giving and recieving... if you are talking like in a relationship, and you are wanting equal feelings back for you then yeah maybe balance could be something you expect to be equal. If you are talking about gifts and such, or a more material thing than it would depend on you and the circumstances.

I don't think that statement should be understand that it is always better to give than to receive. I mean it's not all the time that a person has to give just because it would make him feel better or anything. At times, he/she must also receive rather than giving because its not all the time that a person has something to give.. I would go for the reverse, better to receive than to give.. What is there to give if we haven't have anything to give..
