My friends and I are about to take our first out of the country trip together, and our first destination is Kota Kinabalu. I admit, I bought our ticket first before even researching on the place, because the plane tickets were so cheap that I didn't even think twice on buying them. LOL. Anyway, now that I have started my research, I'm actually having a hard time completing our itenerary, and even choosing our hotel, cause there's just too many of them.. Hoping that I could get great tips here in mylot. Hopefully someone would be nice to share some experiences in Kota, like where to go, what to do, where to eat and all those stuff. Thanks in advance guys!

The last time my family and I had a vacation in K.K. (or Kota Kinabalu) was about 15 years ago. A lot must've changed by now. We went to see Mt. Kinabalu - we just stayed at the foot of the mountain though, and I remember we also went island hopping. What we did was we rented a speed boat with a driver of course, and that took us to 5 different islands. Shopping was also great because there was a lot of bargain stuff all over town.

Wow, that was loong ago. LOL. Anyway, was your experience nice? I'm trying to figure out if I should expect or not, cause I don't want to be disappointed when I get there. Hehehehe.

I went there last year. It's only a short trip so we didn't manage to cover lots of place. I don't know what your itinerary so here's a few to add if you don't add them yet 1) We stayed at King Park Hotel so places like KK Esplanade, handicraft market, waterfront and more are within walking distances. Actually most of the hotels are close from one to another. So just pick any. 2) If you like culture, Monsopiad Cultural Village is a good choice. The last time I was there, the fee was RM80 per person including transport. It worth the cost. There's only 4 of us but they still give their best. The guide from the village offered to send us to Lok Kawi Wildlife Park and send us back to the hotel for a decent price. 3) Lots of seafood restaurant around the area, just pick any. But since my friend don't really like seafood, I settled for the ones at the market near handicraft market. 4) We visited Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park on the last day. It consists of 4 islands. You can either get a boat from Jessleton Point or at the old jetty which operated by locals. RM10 entry for all island. I don't know the boat ride cost as my friend from Sabah paid the whole journey. Cheers~~~

I still don't have a solid Itinerary cause I'm still reading blogs and forums to make sure that we don't miss anything while we are there.. I think I am most excited about all the seafoods, cause I just love them, hopefully they are much cheaper there than here in our country..
