So as i am reading my local news, i come across the story of a 12 year old who was going to be suspended for bringing party poppers to school/ The ones that spread confetti and just pop. Well the school board suspended her. It was not a weapon. They did not list it as an item that she was not allowed to bring to school. They have since overturned her punishment allowing her back in school. But really whats wrong with schools now days?

I do not know. They seem to be getting worse and worse.
1. When i went to school there were no cell phones (We had my husbands granddaughter and that was all she did. Who she texted and what i do not know).
2. We did not know it all like today's kids (Once my older step granddaughter was over. She was told to leave the dog alone (she had gone into her cage to be alone). I can do what i want! She needs to be alone, so leave her alone. Well i will have you know that if she bites me no matter what i do to her, my dad will kill her.
3. We showed concern and passion to others
Good kids have no chance when they are confronted by these kids.

Entitlement generation. My older son is not allowed to play tag in school for fear of someone falling and getting hurt. They have to sign a harrassment policy each year. We have to teach 5 year olds why they can't chase. Makes me so angry sometimes. Everyone is so sue happy.

Oh i know things have changed so much.
My granddaughter was in preK this year and she had a great teacher. But i am so afraid of what she will get next year.
My son had problems in our local school (small) and i sent him to a private school for a few years, til they closed. He went back to the public high school and that went ok.

My older son who came from a great pre-school teacher Miss Wanda I love her. Hugged her students. Told them she loved them etc... It was hard to explain to him why he couldn't say those things in public school. They want are kids to be innocent, but i basically almost have to tell them about the birds and the bees. I agree it depends on the teacher they get as well. His Kindergarten teacher was well, kind of mean. But every teacher he's had since have been great. and oh my the homework! hahaha! He is better at math than me :)

What is happening, is everyone is so sue happy, that the big businesses, and school is a big business, get liability paranoid.
It is silly, one of the reasons I stopped reading the paper and watching TV is so I didn't have to hear about this kind of stuff that makes me want to smash someones face into pieces, so far it has made my life better, but soon my son will be going to school, then what, I can not stay in darkness forever...
At the same time, I could just stay home and teach him what he needs to know, and then he would have to take special exams to get into college, though it should be worth it, such a tough choice to make...
