I almost fell off my chair (which would have really HURT my incision!) when I saw this as "breaking news" earlier today - former Vice President Al Gore and his wife, Tipper, are separating after 40 years of marriage! : http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/37450410/ns/politics-more_politics// Nobody could have seen that coming, especially after that infamous DNC Convention kiss! Any thoughts? I seriously wish nothing but the best for both of them but it certainly is sad news! Annie

***************Hilarious update****************** I saw this this interesting twist to this story this afternoon and as much as I want to say I'm not surprised...I really am..So, whats a liberal to do in a situation like this? whats a person to do in a situation like this? what else.......BLAME BUSH!!!!...lol...no, I'm totally serious.. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yI1-_1E9OY Article: http://newsbusters.org/blogs/brent-baker/2010/06/01/cbs-decides-al-and-"tippers-separation-fault-george-w-bush#ixzz0pegDihHZ "Is there anything a journalist cannot or will not twist to bring the topic back to how life would be so much better if only not for that awful George W. Bush? On Tuesday's CBS Evening News, with the help of the Washington Post's Sally Quinn, Sharyl Attkisson managed to blame news, that Al and Tipper Gore are separating, on how they never got over being denied the presidency despite winning the popular vote in 2000. If only Bush hadn't taken it from them........"

Hmmm...thanks so much for bringing this to my attention. I'm embarrassed that I didn't think of it myself, but you're right, Rollo1, it probably is Bush's fault. Chalk up yet more destroyed lives compliments of W...lol! Annie

Well (as if there was ever any doubt) this proves conclusively that there is nothing the libs can't find a way to blame Bush for.

I did some deep thinking, soul searching even. I thought and pondered, I oprayed. Turns out, this effects my life in no way! watch the incision, I care more for you than the Gores. This didnt surprise me, Al Gore has become a crazy Climate Change Machine. Why not shut up and go see your wife. Maybe she doesnt buy his crap either!

An anonymous source gave me this quote straight from Tipper - allegedly: "So, Alby, the entire world's going to f$^#ing melt yet you can't manage to heat things up in the bedroom? I bet Hillary still makes your graph spike, though. You know what? I hope you become dinner for one of your pour endangered polar bears. At least then you'd be inside of something!"

It goes to show No one Knows what goes on in a marriage. I hope both will be happy.

That's so true; I really hope it really was a mutual and mutually supportive decision as their statement claims because I'd hate to think that either one of them had been "dumped" after all these years. Annie

Yeh, I was a bit surprised myself, they always seemed like they had a pretty good relationship. But I guess we can't know everything about people can we. Having been twice divorced myself, I am pretty happy now just being in a non marital relationship, much less complicated and messy, but I try not to project that on to other people.

I've been hearing and reading that many people hope it's discovered one of them had an affair or something like that because otherwise it's just too scary for everyone in long relationships who thought they'd long since passed the danger point. What do you think - do they have something there? Annie

Hi annie! This was definitely a shocker to say the least! They definitely seemed like the "perfect couple" and married 40 years? I was really surprised as I think almost everyone was! And I do wish them both well! I don't really know what else to say! That sure is a long time to be married to begin with! And why split now? I'm sure he will find someone quickly! He is a nice looking man! Hope Tipper doesn't change her mind because he will be scooped up quickly!lol

All the money he's earned since the 2000 election won't hurt his chances either! Annie

LOL. Who cares? Does it affect YOUR life? No, it doesn't. Al Gore is the biggest hypocrite on the planet. I also heard yesterday that divorces contribute to global warming.

Definitely, they do. When there is a divorce, you now have two domiciles consuming resources where before you had only one. I think that in the future, the government will have to outlaw divorce. Better yet, they should set standards for how many people must live in one house or apartment based on square footage. If you are below quota, the government will assign you some homeless people out of their homeless pool.

Well, now that they've bought the 8.3 million dollar mansion, there's certainly plenty of room. They can each take an oversized, energy-guzzling abode to call home. It will be interesting to see how they split the $100 million fortune that Al's amassed through his various global warming ventures.

Keep in mind that the new mansion is in Montecido, California where community property laws are in force regarding the division of marital assets. I always knew that Tipper was sharp as a tack! Say bye bye to 50 mil, Al.

Something I'm curious about in general and will research now that it's on my mind, but you might have the answer already: Does Al Gore have any type of wind or solar power on his properties, or does he just use what's available through town/city/county? (You know, the devilish planet-killing power.) I'm not a believer in people's contributions putting the world balance over (the easily debunked) critical mass, but I would LOVE to have some type of solar panels up to do away with paying the ever rising monthly electricity bills. Except, obviously, they cost WAY more than I can pay. I wouldn't think the hundred million dollar man has that problem, though.

But you know Al doesn't see it like that. With all the people he's talked (brainwashed) into believing we'll all drown for not switching to mercury lights, he's still coming out ahead by being a total glutton in his personal life. Al is carbon neutral by his standard.

I was surprised by the news, too. I heard that they had been living separate lives for some time now so I guess one or both of them grew tired of the farce. Under the circumstances I wonder how much Tipper really liked that big ole kiss?

I hadn't heard that but it makes sense because he's been so busy traveling around and stuff. I've often wondered how much she liked that kiss! Annie

I really don't see why people are so shocked by this. I mean, its not like their the first couple (or second, or third even) to do this. And yes, everyone always says that they didn't see it coming because they seemed so good together. It's amazing what a couple can hide from others. Especially when those others think they really know someone just from following them in the media.

My feelings on things like these are torn. On one hand, I don't necessarily buy into the whole "marriage" thing, the man-wife dynamic and happily ever after stuff. On the other hand, I guess, I am a bit "traditional" in the sense that I do buy into the whole partnership angle and two people finding happiness and being responsible adults if they choose to start a family. So I root for love in any case. It's a bummer that people fall out. But it happens. Some people are just prone to fall out of love, I guess because it's an ongoing process that needs to be nutured. Folks turn against their immediate family members sometimes, their pets, best friends... on and on. I haven't seen Tipper with Al since they were both in the White House. I don't know how their marriage was doing, and I never bothered to find out. Shame they're getting divorced, but since I've never seen the Gore's torn apart by media, I suppose they're relatively normal in that respect and adult enough to call it quits when it's time. Now, if Tipper runs out to get a new haircut, shows up on Dancing with the Stars and pushes for a new reality series, then I'll have to call her a schmuck along with her ex husand for pushing mass hysteria on the folks.

He must've spent too many late nights in the war room tracking ManBearPig. Let's see who gets that reference. Seriously though, this is a bit of a shocker, I was surprised when I heard it. 40 years, I didn't realize that they were that old. When did they get married? How will her future dates go? Guy: "So, tell me about yourself." Tipper: "Well, I used to be married to the VP of the US. I was also an inspiration for the invention of the internet." Guy: "Wow. Ummm, I have to go to the bathroom." :)

They married pretty young. I think they're a couple years younger than the Clintons. Annie

...Hi annie, Hope you are doing well. Very depressing, some couples you view as having the best of married life. Working through their problems, being faithful to each other, as far as we know. Then the shocker of all shockers, they have grown apart they say. They just bought a nine million dollar ocean front home somewhere in California, a few months ago and celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary two weeks ago according to reports. To think that the Clintons would outlast the Gores at least in terms of staying together is a little bit unbelievable. Who would have thonk it? Take it easy.
