People from different parts of the world use different instruments to eat. Some people use forks, spoons, spoons and forks, their hands, chopsticks, or even a piece of tortilla. So tell me, what do you use to eat?
Short anecdote:
In Canada a teacher in a school called a Filipino boy barbaric for eating with a spoon and fork and made him sit in another table all by himself. The mom sued the school and won. She said that it's apart of their culture.

Hi Eddy .
I have try all you mention.
In my house I usually use spoon and pork but sometimes used hand too for certain dishes which is really hard to use spoon and fork like roasted chicken.
I use chopstick when eating noodle or Japanese food. I think we just need to adjustable what we use to eat with what we eat.

I've heard that news before and that was pretty harsh. For me though, it really depends on the food and the mood. But I usually eat with spoon and fork. When I eat noodles or any Chinese food, I use chopsticks and when I'm quite hungry and it's rice with my favorite viand, I use my hands. I only use my hands at home though.

Well I guess the answer to that would depend on what kind of food you are eating. You cant use a fork to eat soup, and you could not use chopsticks to eat a well cooked steak.
If you are eating spaghetti bolognese then a sponn and fork would be the correct utensils to use.
If you attend a barbi then you would probably use your hands.
I would say a knife and fork would be the most popular choice for most meals, but each to there own, and like you pointed out it all depends on your upbringing or culture.

yes i know that story too. i'm happy that the court is in the side of the filipino family. it is not really good to be in that issue specially the one involved is a school. the teachers in that school should teach their students to be familiar and accept diversity, cultural diversity. but what did they do? they just stepped in the child's human right...
by the way, we Filipinos use spoon and fork and we also eat by hands. though, i often use spoon and fork. i also use chopsticks rarely.

I haven't heard about this scandal. That was kinda harsh. People shouldn't criticize other races. It's part of our culture. We should respect each other regardless of where you came from. I usually use spoon and fork, but I know how to use chopsticks too. ;)
