i hate that so much almost every time i get in a taxi they have no idea where they are going and its like its your job to know wtf like me and my friend when to georga and it was both our first time there with out couting being i the airport from other trips and we told him where we needed to go and he was like how do i get there i was like i don't know i don't live here you should know and plus he didn't even know how to use the navgtion thing in his car i would have been nice to him ether way if he didn't get mad at me for no knowing where i was going i was like once again sir i don't live here why would i know how to get there.
i try my best to find place online so i can get an idae of were it is but some times that don't always work out so i thing the taxi driver woould know.
to me i think that taxi drivers that have no idea where they are going shouldn't hang out at the airport where most of the people there don't know where they are going cause they are just visting.
Have that ever happen to you?
and was i overracting?
do you thing every driver should know where they are going?

I have never had to ride in a cab, but I would think that if someone has that particular job, they should be familiar enough with the area in which they working to do the job effectively. In my opinion, a cab driver who doesn't know the area is just as bad as a secretary not knowing how to answer a phone or type.

I had a bad experience with there cab drivers. When i told him my destination, he keeps on asking me for the direction whether to turn right or left or what are the landmarks for easy reference.
What happened then was the time consumed in the trip is almost doubled since i am not really familiar with the streets i am going to so this resulted to overcharging.
In the end, i am the loser since i paid so much for the bad service i got.
So, i believe that taxi drivers must have mastered the directions/locations of the metro so that they would not get lost along the way. That's what you call professional driver.

Some years ago my ex-boyfriend and I were going to my father's birthday party. We lived in another city and when we got off the train we wanted to take a taxi to the place where the party took place. The taxi driver had never heard of the restaurant, I told him the name of the street and he didn't know where it was. My mother had told me the name of the restaurant and the address, but I didn't know that part of town and I wasn't able to help the driver. The driver had a phonebook and he tried to look up the restaurant, but he couldn't find it, and we spent a lot of time driving around in the area. Eventually we found the restaurant, but we missed the start of the party

um yeah, hello! Taxi drivers should at least know the area where they are located, and if you have to drive somewhere you're not quite use to, then that's what GPS is for.

i too expect that the taxi driver is familiar with the area; i think that is part of his job. of course he is not expected to know every place but then there are the navigation things now. well first of all he should know how how to use the thing. i think taxi companies should hire their drivers not only on the basis of driving ability but also on their knowledge of the area; or at least they should provide some orientation/training.

this is a big problems within cab drivers and passengers. just look at what happens at the amazing race when you get a driver who looks like he was from mars and dont know where to go. thats the reason also why we ride a cab so that they will go to the place that we dont know. you are not over acting, sometimes a cab also uses this tactics to get more money from us passengers. a concern driver will eventually ask for directions or call their dispatchers if they dont know where the passenger is going.
