Wow! I really don't know how to cook bagoong. How do you cook them by the way? What ingredients do you use? It's nice to know how to cook them as I am also a fun of it.

we just bought uncooked bagoong in the market and i cooked it at home. i just sauteed the garlic and put the bagoong. add some vinegar or calamansi extract. you may add sugar and chilies if you want. i added a lot of sugar and vinegar cause the bagoong was very salty. in the end, it turned out good! RAPSA!!!!
we ate our dinner with my version of daing na bangus (see my other discussion about the recipe of my daing) with raw shredded radish mixed with vinegar and bagoong as the partner! yummy!!!!

As one of the Ilocanos, I love Baggoong (fish bagoong). Have you tried the vegetarian Bagoong? It somehow copied the taste of the original bagoong...only, it is vegetarian...but I still like it! Cooking has really been evolving into new heights in each passing day...ahehe ^_^

Oh! You call Raw mango rice a BAGOONG!!! Sounds sexy almost like gangbang, scraped raw mango garnished with oil termeric, salt, green chillies and curry leaves goes very well with steamed rice. Easy and Tangy recipe.

Hmmm... bagoong, this post made me drool. I know how to cook bagoong but I would usually just buy bottled ones that are available in the supermarkets. My favorite is that of Barrio Fiesta-- the regular flavor. Yes, pinakbet wouldn't be pinakbet without it. But the time I enjoy having it the most is when I eat it with green mangoes or turnips (singkamas)! yummy!!!

I super like your post. If this is Facebook, i will defintely press the like icon
Is this alamang or bagoong isda. I loved both. My mom and dad, grew up in the province, so even when I am a kid, they already taught us to eat it. HMMMMMM, and now I crave for some green mangoes (those really crispy sour ones) with Bagoong! (drooling)

thanks! this is bagoong na alamang. we also have bagoong na isda from pangasinan sometimes. i love alamang more because of it's paste consistency.
by the way, while replying on your cooments, i'm having difficulty cause my cat burnok is sleeping in between my keyboard and monitor that i can't move much of my hand because of him....

i loved bagoong alamang more of bagoong na isda.
in alamang you can always combine it in unripe mangoes and to your rice.
i used bagoong na isda seldom,i think if i have fried eggplant i would like to combine it with baggong isda.
your cat really loves to sleep with the computer cause he/she doesn't like you to use computer anymore,
or it's the fact that he/she wants you to notice him/her.

smell* - mspitot says!
yeah, some people don't like the smell of bagoong, specially foreigners,i think!
and i know it is being blocked to get in other countries that's why some really kept on stuffing newspapers with it to avoid and prevent the spread of its odor.

Hi there...Actually, I'm allergic to bagoong and anything from saltwater, but I still eat it even though I itch a lot (masarap kasi). I just take celestamine, zyrtec or benadryl to stop the itch. I also cook bagoong the way you do. I also put it in diningding. My favorite tandem with bagoong are green mangoes or boiled eggplant with tomatoes. Yummy... :)

pinakbet with coconut milk?
hmmm, haven't tried it but in our house we always have this lubi lubi served with coconut milk then with daing on it...
my father always cook those with gata thing...
sometimes we're so fed up with it,always the same thing,
but luckily nowadays we have other foods to eat.
we just have "gata" days when we are out of budget and the leaves of lubi lubi is just in our garden.

before i always have the chance to eat bagoong, but i never knew how to cook it,we just usually buy cooked ones then just preheat it when we want to have some.
i like bagoong on kare-kare.i just loved kare-kare but since my mom is not obliged to eat bagoong,we just don't always have kare-kare,and i also don't know as of now how to cook kare-kare. i love bagoong alamang more than fish. then i loved eating alamang at times when i have fried eggplant or just the indian mango instead, really satisfying!

bagoong is usually our number one recipe when we cook dinengdeng in my province, every house have this bagoong because its important in our dishes, and aside from that it also used as dip sauce for the citrus fruits such as tamarind and green mango.
