Does anyone have their own experiences in this sort of thing? Im not sure how Im fgoing to get this money but I can find a way, I supose. Do I have to pay it at once or can I pay in folds and still take out books?

can you retrace your steps? loosing a library book is sort of a big deal around here. we have lost library books only to have the library find them on the shelf! maybe some kind person who finds it will return it to the library for you.

well, it depends on the librarians as you need to discuss it with them in details.. it did happen to my brother & had disallowed him from borrowing books for a year & a half! but for my situation; I usually get fined due to late returning!

I can't say what they'll do. I lost a book from the school library once several billion years ago. The books cost cheaper then though. Well at least they did for me since my parents were the one who had to pay. They wouldn't let me check out any more books until it was paid. Of course after I give them the money the book magically shows up a week later.

Oh no...can you back track and try to figure out where you may have lost it? If you're lucky someone may have put it in a lost and found somewhere OR returned it to the library (there are always notes on library books that if found, please return to the library.) If it is gone for good you will have to pay for the book. Each library is different though, so I'm not sure if they'll want you to pay for the entire book before getting other books out or not.....If it's not found in a few days, contact them and ask! Good luck!!! I hope you're able to find it!

Misplacing a book is trying enough. When it belongs to the library, the burden is greater. I would think discussing what happend to the librarian would be a good idea. If they make you pay for the book, try websites like amazon or barnes and noble to search for the title of your book. You could get it cheaper that way. My worst library experience was a little different. They tried to say i didn't return a book. I was sure that I did. Three different times they searched for it. I was ready to pay for the book. I gave it one more try. Someone who had worked at the library a lot longer found it. It was shelved in the wrong section because the binding was older. Good luck!

I think it was last year when we lost a library book. The book was quite expensive so I went to the local library to discuss this with the librarian, and to know what were the terms in replacing the book. Her advice was not to rush in returning the book. Just to save up until we can pay the book price in full. In the meantime, keep extending the book so you don't have to pay late dues. I suggest you do the same.

first you should go talk to the library people and let them know that you lost the book. They will look up the value of the book and then you will at least know how much it is. If it is more than you have then I'm sure they will take payments.

Some time ago my husband and I borrowed a dvd at the library, and we lost it. We looked everywhere, but we simply couldn't find it no matter how hard we tried. We went to the library and told them what had happened, and we had to replace the dvd. We had to pay about $65, but if we find the dvd within a year we are able to get our money back. We have also had to replace a couple of books, not because we lost them, but because our dog damaged them. Fortuneately the books weren't as expensive as the dvd.

Have you back-tracked and looked everywhere for it yet? That's what I do when I can't find one. I lost one library book once, but since I lost it at school and checked it out from the school library it ended up right back in the library. Someone found it and checked it back in before I could even report it missing. Awfully nice of them, but then I never did get to finish that book. Maybe someone will return it when they find it. Library books are always marked with what library they belong to.

There are three books at home right now with me which belongs to the Library and which I should have long return to the woman there, however there is a friend who has taken the books in his name for me as I do not have an account there so I am contacting the person but his cell phone is always switch off I think he had to pay for the books though, I am afraid of this as I might never get books from there now. I think you have to pay for the book too and it is usually the whole sum.

I never lost a book but once I returned one with the self-service machine and I guess it didn't register. (It was quite soon after the new system was put into place). Even though it was their fault that they had obviously missed the book when tagging them all electronically, probably if it came from another library, I still had to pay for it because when I explained what had happened they couldn't find it on the shelves so as far as they were concerned I'd lost it myself. Wasn't impressed :/ Check with your library what their policy is. They're not going to be all that mad at you, it happens a lot. At my library each book has a price on the cover (although I realise you can't check, since you haven't got the book!) and it's usually just the retail price. So unless it was a big reference book it's not too bad. You might be lucky and someone might find it and return it to the library. Good luck!
