Most of the people don't have enough sleep at night. The average sleep hours are 5-6 hours only. As all we know we need an eight hours sleep for us to be energize and healthy. According to scientific study taking a nap between 1-3 pm is a good habit and alternative solution if you have 5-6 hours of sleep because during this time our body need some rest and it will easy recover your body for the loss sleep you aren't get.

I like to take regular naps myself and I hear they can be quite good for your health! I also participate in regular meditation and this can definitely lead to you needing less sleep, it kind of enegises you and I have definitely noticed this. I'm not sure how many hours of sleep I get each night although I tend to sleep like a log and rarely wake up during the course of the night.
I think that it's a common thing now that most people if not all tend to take naps when they can as we are learning so much about the benefits of this now. I don't have much on my mind these days and I tend not to worry about anything and so I guess this contributes to my having a good night's sleep. If you are constantly inundated with worry then this will prevent you from sleeping soundly.
I do notice that if I take an afternoon nap then I tend to get to bed quite late at night! I must be doing something right though as I rarely feel tired these days! Andrew

I typically take a nap every day. Even in the summer when my schedule isn't as busy. It's something I've been doing since either the 8th or 9th grade and I haven't stopped. I can't really get through most days without taking one. I'm not surprised to hear that scientific studies are backing it since I know firsthand how great taking a nap makes me feel.
