I watched M. Night Shyamalan's Signs and Sixth Sense and these both movies blew me off. But then I watched his Village and The happenings. Both are good movies but not great. Then the image of M. Night got slightly lowered in my eyes. However, his movies has got its own taste and the genre also I like but all movies of his are similar. And except Signs and Sixth Sense, others are not that much good. So, What do you think of M. N Shyamalan. Do you like him? What do you think of him as a director?

Hi,
I have a very similar opinion about him. But we have to understand that films like Village etc are fantasy movies. They are made to create an environment of magic, horror and suspense at the same time. Probably that is what makes us feel that they lack purpose. Sixth Sense though, is quite a good one, but most of the credit actually goes to Bruce Willis. Thanks
God bless you

Thanks getbiswa2000 for you response. Yes you are right that Bruce Willis has also given a very big hand in Sixth Sense. But I think that most of the work is done by the director, even how to get actors perform according to the role is also very much dependent on the director.
Thanks again,
Happy Mylotting!

Yeah, in most cases. But an actors like Bruce Willis, Anthony Hopkins, Mel Gibson goes far beyond the director.

Hello vividh,
M.Night Shyamalan created quite a sensation with his first movie The Sixth Sense which is one of only six horror movies ever nominated for an Oscar Best Picture. Yeah, that is how good The Sixth Sense is and I agree it was a very good movie. And I really like the twist at the end. But the sort of retrospect awareness that he created is very difficult to come up with so his later movies are not as sensational. And since his fans expect him to produce more and more of the same, his work seems to deteriorate after he made The Unbreakable.
I know it's difficult to come up with original plots with such a twist at the end like The Sixth Sense so it's like when he makes an unoriginal movie, people get really disappointed. That's the problem with producing a sensational movie at the beginning of one's career. If you can't produce more of the same or better, people will tend to be really disappointed. I was disappointed with his movies after The Unbreakable especially with Signs, The Village and The Happening. They all border on the unbelievable and the ridiculous especially with him starring in the movie as in Lady in the Lake.
