SALARY vs. HAPPINESS

Would a high salary stop you from quitting your job if you are not happy with it anymore? Will you go for a high paying secure job or would you rather take a risk of trying other things to make money? My take here is I would rather be happy. Not all things can be bought by money. Money can't always buy happiness. Money can indeed make you happy but you also have the right to have money and at the same time be happy.

Well if you are fed up of your job even if it gives you a very high pay I would rather build up my own company or small time business that I really like. For me, I really am a grease monkey. So I would rather put up a car wash business or accessories or a pimp my ride type of business.

Thanks for the comments. Actually, I also thinking of doing the same. My vision is to have my own company. A company that can stand alone that can run like an airplane with an auto-pilot. I am starting a business now and once it's it stable, I would put my 100% on it.

Hi ellago.. I would like to comment on the part when you will give you 100%.. I would suggest you give it you 100% when it's starting, or else it will not be stable. Companies that become stable can not earn passive income on its own. The reason is you still have to work on your company and run it well to make it earn.. The solution to this is to expand or duplicate it.. The more the marrier as we say. As we expand or multiply as we increase our manpower, it would increase our production and therefore increase our income.. Now you as the owner, you only have to take care of the main company and not the other companies that is managed by others and still you earn from royalty. That would be your passive income. I hope I said it well hehehehe...

Same here. I'd rather be happy than be paid with high salary. Happiness is Energy ;) It is one of the factor which will keep us moving forward.

Happy to see that we have the same point of view. Happiness equal energy and energy towards work makes us successful. It would be hard to be successful if you are not happy with what you are doing. You can't give your dedication and commitment.

For the mean time, I am toughing it out with my current job even when I have to drag myself to work. It pays the bills. While I still do not know what I would actually want to do or what can I do to make money and still keep my sanity intact, it's good to be able to know that there is money coming in. I'm working my way out of it but for the mean time... I guess it's tolerable. I'm not yet "miserable"

I can really relate to your discussion, because I am currently experiencing this problem. There is a better offer given to me with bigger salary but at the same time I have learned to love the job I have now. I am still thinking about it. It is really hard to choose between two great giants.

Good luck to you. Sometimes money can't buy everything. Try listing down all the pros and cons of you moving to the new job. You can also try to list the monetary compensation annually and compare if it's really worth moving. Somethings the basic pay seems to be huge but when you compute annually, your annual worth is less.
