Just came up to this weird idea. 
What if the sign up process here is invitation-only? Means that in order to join, a member must invite the person who wants to join by sending his/her referral link. I know some users are familiar with this system as used by a gift site or similar to that. If it happens, a forced referral system will be implemented. It also gives users the opportunity to get more referrals and a higher chance of having active downline earnings (hope so 
) as some users want to have referrals to help them in their earnings. What would be your opinion for this? Have a nice day!

I think that would definitely be a good idea but, some people would probably have a hard time referring other people that they know. Perhaps those that they know don't really fancy earning money online as most people are still skeptical about the whole thing.
Others have also tried to refer others by posting myLot on their blogs or journals, together with their referral link that anyone can simply go around and register themselves without actually being under someone's referral. If membership were only through invite, I guess we'd still have the same situation as we have now...? I am not really sure though. (^_^")

I agree, it is hard to deal with skepticism especially when trying to convince people without experience in online earning to join. Anyway, as the other response had mentioned, let it as it is. Thanks for sharing your opinion, friend.

Yeah, I guess we just have to let it be as it is. Others can just send their referral links to anyone that they would like to consider to be among their downline so that they could earn money from their downline(rs?)
If it membership would be only through invite, I guess the site would turn out to be somewhat exclusive only to a few and not to any person who can be interested.

There are other ways of getting referrals. But on any means, it is still hard to do. It takes patience and creativity to have them working. As the others had mentioned, let it as it is.

well the idea of your is like the rules in lockers. i think if that happens here and i am not a member yet, i will still join. it will give us more opportunity to earn more because of our downline. but it is not so easy to find some referrals that will join.

Yes, it was the rule at lockerz, an invitation-only site. Anyway, it has also some disadvantages. How about those who found this site just by searching? They want to join, but they don't receive any invitations from members here. This idea is in favor to those who are desperate to get referrals, as I had posted on my other comment, the concept was only formed by such users and I got it from them to have something to discuss.
