Should bosses act as good role model or exempt them to the implemented rules?

Base on what's happening everywhere, whether in the government offices or simple in private companies, this issue is very hot. That's why I want to know the opinion of individuals about this.

I believe that bosses everywhere should not be exempted to the rules. They should follow the rules like the rest of the people. In that way, if their subordinates see him following the rules, they would look up to him as a good example. Good bosses should lead by example and not let themselves be above the law.

Definitely. It's like teaching your kids. You act as their role model because it's you whom they see with authority. Same in the workplace. If you want people to follow the rules implemented, you should set yourself as a good example. You can't have people follow the rules if you don't even practice what you preach.

Hope, they realize these things... on how to be a good boss and make their employees proud of what accomplishments they have for the good of all.

A good boss will play by the rules and uphold them with conviction. A really good boss will explain the rules and make sure that others understand them to be reasonable and see why they exist. A good boss is a mentor and even a friend to his subordinates. A bad boss is one who is over proud and defensive about his position. He will be overbearing and insistent that the rules apply to the workers but that he is 'above' them and can bend them. That attitude simply shows that he is not confident that he has really earned or deserves his position (he may, indeed, have gotten where he is by somewhat underhand methods). As a 'worker', there is not a great deal that one can do about the kind of boss you have. Mostly, you just have to learn to live with what you get. If you are ever fortunate enough to get a good boss, do whatever you can to stay with him or her!

But sometimes, its hard to work with a bad boss. You can't concentrate on what you need to accomplish.

It must be YES but I think this will not happen sometimes. But I think they really should be a role model to their employee, so that he/she will get respect even outside the office and he/she will get good reputation. Unlike other boss I think his/her employee though he/she respect in office but in outside the office she/he will not get the respect of his/her employee.

Bosses should be the role model to the other people in the office though because they have reached the position due to the hard work and their capabilities so they should be a role model for us.

The bosses should be the good example and they must be strict when it comes to policies or rules. Because they are the one who implemented it.
