How do you get rid of slugs?

Every night these little crawly critters come out to play, and they annoy me .I have tried to sprinkle salt around the back doors, but they manage to come back. Any suggestions on how I can get rid of them. Cheers Sue

I use slug pellets that I buy from the shop, and they do work well for me. I have also used salt, and it has also worked, so I am unsure... I always thought that salt was quite effective as it dries them out. I hate these slugs too, especially when they get in with my growing veg!

try using more salt and maybe some sulphur powder.. i've been having a lot of garden snail last year. the salt worked for me when i used alot of it everywhere around my plants..
