Can you cook? If so, what is the last thing you made?

I cooked myself a nice lean pork chop for dinner, and it was mighty good. Put apple juice in the skillet, kept it nice and moist, and then sauteed some onions to go with it. I'm not normally an onion person, but they help prevent strokes, and these days I'm all about prevention!
So I'm not a gourmet cook, but I make myself some nice meals and like a little variety. I haven't see Modestah around, but I remember she sounded like a great cook! Several people here seem to cook almost like professionals. Carmelanirel comes up with some yummy sounding things.
Do you cook? Or can you cook?

I haven't had any problems posting recipes as part of a discussion like this one. As for swapping, there is a site called GroupRecipes.com where you can upload your own recipes and share them with others who rate yours. It's a social networking site based only on the recipes you share with others.

It is funny, the only thing it seems I can do well with cooking, is barbecuing. If I try to cook the same item on a frying pan, or oven, it just does not compare, and I always seem to mess up. I am terrible at baking, I will never try again. Frying is a hit or miss thing with me. Also, it seems I can only cook meats well. Maybe it is my inner cave man coming out?

I can cook pretty well actually. I tend to make up dishes too. I like to make seafood especially. The last thing I made was rigatoni pasta with shrimp and mussels in an alfredo sauce. It was very good and I still have leftovers in my fridge.

Cooking has been one of my passions since high school days. I just made homemade lasagna the other night. It is heavenly. Lots of ricotta and mozzarella cheeses are the answer. My family just loves it.

Thats very nice... Honestly I can cook, but only those easy to prepare foods such as instant noodles, instant soups and all the instants. I believe I'm very good in frying, you know I... I can marinate and fry almost everything chicken, pork, fish and all kinds of meat. Thats it.

Hey you forgot to mention me
LOL--well I just had dinner and had fixed homemade chicken nuggets (have enough for another meal out of it), cooked up mixed veggies and french fries. One thing I would LOVE to have is a salad...now that the weather is hot and steamy and humid, this is perfect weather, but I'm hesitant to get lettuce after that recent Romaine Lettuce recall, and that's my favorite lettuce!!!
Your dinner sounded great...I'm not much of a pork eater though..LOL

Thanks Ambie, I didn't know I had yummy sounding recipes...
Actually today I am being lazy and just threw a pot roast in the crock pot. But a couple days ago, my son and I picked a cup of strawberries and so yesterday morning I baked homemade strawberry muffins...

hi ambiepam yes i can cook and did cook for my self before coming here and having to eat food cooked for me. My last meal I cooked was probably
Barollis plus fetticini and italinan frozen meat balls with barelli plus tomato garlic sauce that I had added more garlic, some oregano and basil as they are stingy with the herbs. It was done wonderfully well and yes I just cooked for myself as my son had really weird hours at work. but i fed myself diabetic wise foods. I also do a wonderful roast beef and a wonderful beef stew. the beef stew they make here tastes a lot like mine so the cook does know how to cook when he gets on the ball. I used a lot of garlic and onion in my cooking for healths sake and some olive oil also. ate nuts for health sake altho actually as a person with diverticulitis I am not supposed to eat nuts.

I cook on a daily basis pretty much. You have to when you have a family to feed, the kids can't survive on fast food and microwavable meals.. not to mention I can afford it that much! LOL
I cook apple pork chops frequently, though I don't add onions when I make them that way.. I think the onion and apple would contrast.
Last night I made Carribean Jerk pork chops using a Lawry's marinade. I haven't decided what I'll be making tonight, maybe meatball subs using ground turkey and whole wheat sub rolls. I also bought a Hawaiian flavored marinade to try this week with chicken.. and hubby plans on grilling some bbq chicken this week too.

Not the way I make it. I put the pork chops in a baking pan, and dump a frozen can of apple juice concentrate on top, then cover it with foil so the chops really soak up the apple flavor.. that's all you can taste really, and I just love them like that!! I also make a peach pork chop, but it's a bit more involved, and it doesn't really taste like peach. It calls for apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, rosemary, dried onion, and of course peaches.. but all the other ingredients take the sweetness right out of the peaches. It's really good, one of our favorites.

hi there..nice topic you got
I stayed with my parents that's why my mom cooks for us.
I don't know how to cook or even bake. i really wanted to learn but it seems that every time i tried to cook or bake, things got messed up.there was an instance that i tried to fry a fish . i poured the oil in the pan have the pan heated. but to my surprise the fire went inside the pan i grabbed the pan and pour water from the faucet. i did not know that once you pour water to the pan which is on fire it would have develop a huge fire. i burned some of the things at the kitchen and was scolded by my mom. a lesson to learn.
but here's a thing.hope that someday as i have my own house i can have a good kitchen, recipes and somebody to inspire me, maybe i would not be afraid to try and i will be able to cook :)

Baking soda would have done the job, instead of the water. But I know you are not the only one who makes that mistake. A lot of people don't know baking soda puts out grease fires, but water makes it worse. I'm sure you are full of talent, you just have gotten to use it yet. You'll get to someday! : )

I don't really cook since I still live with my parents. But I sure love to do it, since I'm in a particular grade where we cook things ourselves, such as lasagne. I can't wait to live alone and make a dish everyday^^ It's fun if you ask me. Experimenting with spices etc. sure keeps it interesting and motivating to make it even better ;-)

I made a macaroni salad...potato salad...another pasta salad and a fruit salad....cooking in three of them....also did some other cooking along the way....but my daughter and her husband are gourmet cooks....so I ate a ton of good stuff too!

Hi AmbiePam, That chop sounds delicious, I haven't had one in ages. I can cook but don't enjoy it that much, I like making cakes more than meals. The lastmeal I made was a corned beef hash. Think I buy some chops today now though, yummy. Huggles. Ellie:D

I cook because I have to for my family’s sake but I hate doing it! I have a set number of very simple meals that I prepare day to day. When my daughter was a baby and I didn’t work online or write I would try out recipes and do crazy things like bake or make pizza from scratch, you know the base and everything...Some meals used to turn out nice, some mediocre and some were total disasters! I don’t enjoy cooking at all; I would rather clean up than prepare meals.
The dinner you prepared sounds delicious,I love onions, it’s nice that you do that for yourself, if I am alone I don’t even bother, naughty, I know...
