Better than antibiotics?

Well I woke up this morning, and realised that I have a bladder or kidney infection. I am quite prone to them, through my own fault though, as I do not drink water, and not many fluids in a day. But I really get annoyed with trying to get an appointment to see my Dr. just to get some antibiotics to clear it up, so instead to help flush it through, I drink so many glasses of water, which I hate, and also cranberry juice, which I don't like either that much... but the cranberry juice is actually really good at getting rid of infections, because it contains antioxidants, which help clear up infection.
Have you ever used something else instead of relying on antibiotics for infections that has helped you, or do you know of any thing that helps?

I don't take antibiotics because I have a vegan diet and I am suspicious about the ingredients. I like to live a healthy live eating vegan diet and having a moderate amount of exercise. I love to drink cool water. I enjoy drinking cranberry juice but sadly they have sugar in it. I have suffered from a bladder infection recently so I drink lots of cranberry juice. At the moment I have a sore throat. I have a vegetable soup for dinner and a fruity pudding. I had vegan ice cream with raspberries. If I get a headache drinking water and having some fresh air helps. If I have period pain I go for a long walk. Funnily enough that takes the tummy and back pain away. I use essential oils like lavender to relax in a hot bath.

Just so you know, ocean spray cranberry juice isn't vegan! I never drank it, but found this out quite recently.

Well, everyone time I have a sore throat, caused by a bacterial infection, I always drink ginger and honey tea. The honey is especially good, because it has pretty much everything those pills have in them that the Dr. will give you. But, the honey has to be honey from the south american region, because the pollen from those plants are the key to the whole thing.

Preventing infections is just having a regular healthy lifestyle. Drink water in a regular basis. I drink juices: carrot juice, apple juice, orange juice, and many more just to compensate my fluid intake. Eat healthy foods.
The human body is made to eat more vegetables and fruits than meat. Haven't you noticed that we don't have teeth like the big cats? We have teeth that are much like the cows and the plant eating animals. It follows that we need to eat more plants than meats.

Hello rosie230
I easily got bladder infection when I was small, but it seems that I get better now, seldom to get a bladder infection.
I never heard of cranberry juice good at getting rid of infections, but I do have ginger when I feel sick, but I really don't know whether it is good for infections.

Drink plenty of water also make sure to buy some echinecea, with golden seal in it, it will help to boost your immune system. On top of taking that 2 times a day try some Turmeric, in your foods, it adds flavor but it also is great to get rid of infections. You can even make warm milk and add 2 tsp. of Turmeric, it should help if you do that about 3 times a day. I also would add a spoon full of honey to the warm milk, milk does help us. You should also drink some cranberry juice daily it helps with urinary tract infections.

hi rosie230 use a lot of cranberry juice and drink a lot of water, and i mean a lot as it has to flush those bacteria out otherwise you will need to go to some doctor and get some strong antibiotics. for me with diabetes i just do not fool around, but go to my doctor and tell him hey check me for uti as I feel like i have a kidney infection again, and he has his nurse check. then i get antibiotics and do not fool around with half assed home remedies as a lot of people rush into the ER as they got severe bladder infection from messing around with home remedies instead of getting antibiotics in the first p;lace and getting well.

hmmm...yeah, going the natural way is always better than modern antibiotics or medicine. but the thing is i'm quite impatient and would always prefer convenience over healthful choices...so if i were in your shoes, i'd probably take the antibiotics coupled with some herbal stuff I could research on the net to cure my illness.

I thankfully have never had to deal with bladder or kidney infection. However if I were you try drinking hot or iced green tea. It has plenty of antioxidants and that is what I usually drink all day. I try to have at least to cups of it hot, once in the morning and once at night. Then during the day I drink it cold. The best green tea to me is lipton green tea with the passion fruit in it. You really have to find a good drink that is healthy that you can drink all the time to prevent this from happening to you constantly. How about flavored water with antioxidants. I don't know if they have them out on the market but you should check into it. I hope you are feeling better soon. Take care!
