Social anxiety disorder is a condition that is very disabling, as well as devastating to many people especially the youth nowadays. Teens who have a social anxiety problems are very concerned about being embarrassed or humiliated by other people. A person suffering from this disorder must be given proper attention and treatment so that they could overcome and get rid of the debilitating effects of this kind of social phobia. How about your ideas and concerns?

I never heard about it, but I guess it also somewhat the same with social phobia. I know I have one. I have never been diagnosed, since I never asked anyone. I am concerned about being embarrassed and humiliated in front of many people. One reason is because I have generalized sweating disorder which is also not diagnosed. I mean literally I have that kind of body disorder since childhood and I have seen the same symptoms with my daughter (gen sweating disorder). For me it is psychologically driven, when I feel anxious around many people especially when I am being stared at, I sweat a lot and really sweat than normal. Its like there are small faucets around my body.. I can't describe it but that is how i can describe it.. Well,....I dont know I get to live a normal life though but because of that I am somewhat introvert and do not socialize often.

Yes, I've heard about social anxiety before. In fact, I am having the symptoms as well. I am actually very afraid to get out of my house if I am alone. I think I am having some sort of phobia if I am alone. If I am with someone that I can trust, then the fear will subside in a great deal. Yes, a lot of teenagers are suffering the symptoms of social anxiety disorder as well. My suggestion is the community should not have a stigma about this situation. Instead, have a complete understanding about it and try to help.

Yes indeed, this is a terrible illness. it means that things that are simple everyday activities to most people , like going shopping or eating in a restaurant, can seem really daunting for people suffering from social anxiety disorder. Many sufferers avoid the situations that make them feel anxious altogether, which can cause depression because of their withdrawal from an active life.
